This place is very lax. They open when they want and have food when they want. Really it’s more of a rum shack.
This spot the owner is trying to bring back the rum shop Vibes from Trinidad I love it

Please do not be fooled by these pictures this place is trash. First mistake was I found this place on IG.. I love supporting small carribean businesses with great food and service. ARIAPITA is not the place. Don't even know where to start went here on a Friday night we told we can sit anywhere which was fine. Sat at a table that was recently used, which obviously needed to be cleaned waited 5 minutes until I believe the owner or someone who has an attachment to the restaurant because he's all over their IG. He then proceeded to tell us what is available to order, which was chicken, shrimp and lamb for the meat choices, then macaroni & cheese, fried rice and potato salad. And this is a Friday night at 8pm. So we decided on our meals but as soon as we went to the back to place our orders ourselves we were told no shrimp and only had lamb for one. Again keeping an open mind but when the food came out in take away CONTAINERS and cold, this when I can say please don't be fooled by things you see on IG I mean it MEAT WAS AF MACARONI WAS COLD AF. Disappointed is not even the word I but mad and very angry because I really wanted to try this place and recommend it to everyone.

Colorful spot with a festive back room run by chef owner Osei Blackett. He's bringing his hometown flavors of Trinidad and Tobago to Ariapita. The $25 all you can eat every Friday is a BBQ deal that's hard to beat.. I believe there is a 2 hour time limit. He was recently featured in Food and Wine @foodandwineHe also runs everything oxtails at Smoagutsburg in Williamsburg and Prospect Park and those oxtails empanadas are ?Chicken was perfect, lamb was tender, pig tail was a first for me and tasted good. The shrimp were huge. Some days they have fish as well I was told.Scalloped potatoes and mac salad were one of the best I've had and took some home!Go hungry, grab a platter and experience BBQ Trinidadian styl

I really like this restaurant and I want them to succeed, but they have to take some action to improve the space. The walls, the floors, the bathroom all need a deep scrubbing and they have to choose a better settings for a trash receptacle. Not immediately next to the diners. It's uncomfortable to eat in a restaurant that's not clean. Also if you're not participating in restaurant week, you shouldn't advertise it.

I was craving Trinidadian food so l Googled restaurants in the area..Ariapita popped up..online every thing looked tasty. Upon arrival there was a bit of an odor..very loud music with a huge loud fan blowing forcefully on us..ln all honesty the decor was lacking to non existence..the walls were filthy and it had a heavy feeling like it needs a deep cleaning ..l wanted to leave but we decided to give it a shot because we know that sometimes the most ran down places have some of the best food..and to be honest they did...though we ate with heavy hearts l must say the taste wasn't bad after all..going into the bathroom was another nightmare lt gave NYC subway bathrooms vibe graffiti all over the walls looking crazy!!!..case in point here fix up and clean up...work on the presentation of theestablishment.. so it can atleast match the taste of the food.

Great meal, great staff. The oxtail, rice and pea was a different blend but was tasty. I will definitely recommend this place.
