Great waitress. My nightly special entree was average at best. The other 3 loved theirs. Disappointed to see almost no French wine (by the glass anyway, we weren't offered another wine list) at the French bistro. My wife wants to come here every trip to NYC.

I went here with a pretty high expectations and boy I had it wrong! We ordered chicken salad and burger. Salad was dry, tasteless and only thing it had good was a look. Burger was a bit more better. I was too hungry to had a better judgement maybe but it was really not so bad. Drinks were also not on top. I asked my drink with less alcohol but it was still pretty strong. Waiter was nice. Place is designed nicely, meaning the interior. But tables are uncomfortably small. I left my birthday dinner pretty sad. Supposedly this place should’ve been a good place for a nice, calm, tasty dinner but… I guess the place is a bit overrated.

Never going here again. Made Thanksgiving reservation for my whole family… confirmed with an employee over the phone… and now they tell me that are not open the day before.

This place gets a 10/10 because they have the most spectacular live trio cover band on Mondays and Thursdays. Only go if you want to have a SPECTACULAR time out with friends after dinner. If you aren't into fun, this is not the place for you. It was a riot.

Bar Tabac is a beloved and staple French restaurant in the Cobble Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn. We chose this place for our Christmas Eve dinner.
The place and ambiance are casual, cozy, and unpretentious. We were given a table for two at the back of the restaurant (we didn’t realize the place is quite spacious).
We started with freshly made escargot Bourgogne served with French baguettes and salted butter, together with a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon.
For my main entrée, I selected Les Moules frites (we were told that the mussels are from Canada), while my partner opted for lamb shank stew, which was served to him cold and he decided to send it back to the kitchen to warm it up a bit. Hands down to the mussels’ freshness and the delicious sauce that goes with it, I enjoyed dipping my baguette and fries in it.
We then concluded our dinner with lava cake and vanilla ice cream dessert to share. Overall, we found the dining experience pleasing; the staff are sincerely friendly and helpful. If you are craving some authentic French cuisine and happen to be in the area, this place is highly recommended.

This place tried to scam me out of a dollar. They have one price on the wall behind the bar, and another on the menu. Watch out!
Bar Tabac is one of the last true French bistros around, and it delivers every time. The food is authentic and full of flavor, the wine selection is excellent, and the service is always on point. The atmosphere is lively yet relaxed — it feels like being transported straight to Paris without leaving Brooklyn.
What else can you ask for? A real neighborhood gem and a must-visit for anyone who loves French cuisine.

The worst-tasting food I’ve ever had.
The fried calamari was by far the worst I’ve ever had—it was thick, greasy, and tasted more like cheap onion rings than calamari. The mussel pot was also not fresh. To make things worse, the Aperol Spritz came with the orange slice still having the supermarket sticker on it, which clearly means they never even washed their fruit. Overall, the food quality does not match the price at all. We were totally shocked, especially since they call themselves a French restaurant but the worst quality—honestly, I don’t think any French person would accept this level of food.
