Great food and nice place, but we already paid the dinner including the tip, and we decided to drink more and the server asked me for more tip and I gave him more, but this didn’t seem right to me. Thank you!

My partner and I came here this weekend for a last minute brunch. It was truly the most mediocre food I've ever had.I got the lamb merguez and cheddar omelette. The sausage was super gamey to the point that it kind of made me gag. I had to eat around it as best I could. The eggs in the omelette were not fully cooked - they were soupy on the inside. The arugula salad that came with it was wilted and literally slimy. The potatoes were "crispy" to the point of being burnt. My partner got the biscuits and sausage gravy. There was very little sausage in it and my partner said it was also extremely mediocre and not very flavorful. The food was also crazy expensive! My omelette was 18 dollars. At first I was going to get a burger but it was $19 and if I had added cheese that would have been an extra $3. Those are like - fancy restaurant prices for truly mediocre food. When I realized the salad was literally rotten I had to say something to the server. I really don't like sending things back but I think I was nice about it and he was lovely - very nice and apologetic about it. It totally wasn't his fault. They immediately comped my inedible meal, which I appreciated (we tipped 20% of the full bill without the comped meal). The ambience is also weird in a kind of fun way. We sat in the back room which has green lighting and that was kind of a fun experience.Maybe if you just come here for a drink it's a pleasant experience? Or if your goal in a brunch is bottomless mimosas and not the food? But I would never, ever eat here again. It was truly gross at worst and mediocre at best.

For Sunday brunch I was craving one thing and one thing only; FRENCH TOAST! I did a quick search and this spot was close and took reservations. The service was great; our waiter and the host were really cool and waited on us throughout with a smile and were really thoughtful and friendly. The French toast was not overly sweet and was pillowy soft inside. My partner said that the omelette was good, but the filling was on the salty side. To get around that she had to take the filling out and eat the buttery soft egg separately. The ambiance was a bit dark and I could see this space easily being rented out for a private event (birthday vibes) at night. Last standout was the dinnerware and the glassware. It gave vintage flare and made me feel like I was eating brunch during the Gilded Age!Go here!

Went here because my friend really wanted a bottomless brunch in Brooklyn, and this is one of the few places that offers it. We both got the Merguez Cheddar Omelette that was maybe over-salted, but a bite of home fries and salad was so good I didn’t mind. We shared a pitcher of passion fruit Bellini and then another of mimosa. It was surprisingly quiet for a Sunday brunch vibe, but it was a gray day in March. Would go again for sure!

Context: I booked a res for 10 for my friends birthday (only 8 made it) a week prior as this is close to the bar my friend likes. We came here because he said he wanted steak, it was everyones first time. The restaurant was completely empty other than our party & a couple.PROS: The atmosphere was really nice, I really liked the faux windows with the LEDs behind them - they were really pretty and made a nice background.I also found the food itself to be generally well priced for the quality. I paid $14 for a drink which is on the higher end for drinks in the city, but $39 steak frites is decent. I believe for 8 people our total was about $350 including tip (we did give 20% dont worry)I was also very appreciative that they were able to accommodate our large party & that they called to confirm the details. My friends say the chicken was exceptionally good.I always appreciate a menu that has lots of options as someone w arfid.CONS: This was a doozy, I can confidently say this is one of the weirdest dining experiences I've had. When I arrived, the waiter immediately started fishing me for tips. And I get it, its their job, but I just really dont like being touched especially on my shoulders. This happened multiple times. At around 8:30 we put in our order only then to be mocked by the waiter? For example - we ordered for our friend whos train was delayed who wanted brusell sprouts, and he kept mocking her for it? Additionally another friend wanted to order something without an ingredient - I cant remember if it was spinach or mushrooms. What I can remember is that it wasn't a crazy substitution. The waiter said no, and from what I got its because hes scared of the chef. I ordered the steak, and when asked how I wanted it done I said rare. The waiter then proceeded to laugh, ask me if I was being serious, and then said "I'll put down medium rare." I insisted that I meant rare when I said rare, and thats how I like my steak. Why ask me how I want my steak if youre just going to pick it for me? Why ask my friends what they want to eat if youre going to make fun of them or flat out deny their simple requests? We then proceeded to wait until approx. 9:00 when 2 of my friends get food placed in front of them. 5 minutes later the waiter is back and he tells us that the food is for another table, and takes the food back. No apology, no way to make it better. We then proceed to wait until past 9:30 (over an hour) for our food while we watch our waiter sit down with the other table (?????). He then comes and tells us that the reason why its taking so long is because theres only one chef and all the food is homegrown blahblah... my question is: what do they do when there is more than 10 people present? The restaurant was completely empty on a Saturday night...Our food came out at 9:40. My steak (in case you were curious) was medium rare. However since we were on a time crunch & it was my friends birthday dinner, I did not want to make a scene of sending it back. Also I was scared I'd be told no. The fries are very soggy and salty, and I found the steak to be underseasoned. I wasn't expecting perfection for $39 steak frites, but I was hoping to at least get what I ordered. At this point we were trying to get out of there as fast as possible because the waiter was making us uncomfortable.Overall it makes me really sad that this was such a big miss for us because the area is convenient & the menu is accessible for me. What would have made this better would have been faster wait times, and more hospitality. Also we could tell the waiter was scared of the chef, which in turn, made us scared of the chef. I don't like feeling scared or uncomfortable while I'm eating. I’d be fine with paying a little more if it meant faster wait times. I really wanted to like Barons, and I hope that if I come back in the future, improvements are made. It did make the birthday very memorable though.

Jo was incredible! Took such good care of us and offered such a nice, welcoming vibe. He made the entire experience so wonderful and had some great convos with him. He was running the ship by himself and was so attentive to us, making sure we always had full drinks for our bottomless brunch. Would definitely come back, especially if he is working!

Simply put, best meal I’ve ever had at a restaurant. I was here last week on Wednesday and got the roasted Brussels sprout salad and the brick pressed chicken and my friend had the salmon. The thing about the chicken is…I know I can cook but I don’t know that I can recreate that. It was phenomenal. I highly recommend what I had and will definitely return!

Really cool atmosphere that was great for a birthday brunch! Prices are affordable, and they have options for brunch with a drink or brunch with bottomless. We went with a large group of 10 and received great service. It did take a bit for the food to come out, but we were a large group. I had the Bloody Mary and the merguez cheddar omelet. I found the Bloody Mary a little too horseradish tasting and chunks would get stuck in the straw. The omelet was decent. The home fries lacked flavor and needed hot sauce and salt. Overall, okay food and a fun atmosphere!

If you go one way on Dekalb you find yourself in the middle of a crowd, where decent food is overpriced and you have to wait forever for a meal. We decided to go the other way, and ended up in this quiet, lovely spot, where we were treated with great professionality and kindness and offered excellent food. I had savory donut holes and salmon, my wife brussel sprouts and a veggie plate, with a bottle of good California wine, at fifty dollars less than it would have cost us a quarter of a mile away. Several tables were empty, and when I asked the very personable waiter about it, he said with a smile that there was not much traffic out there. I hope they stay in business, because they deserve it and we deserve them.
