Bergen Bagels is near and dear to my heart. It's not the most elaborate bagel shop in NY, but it gets the job done, again and again, which is pretty much all you can ask for when it comes to a quick and inexpensive sandwich spot.
I find the bagels to be consistently high-quality, the egg sandwiches (w/ chipotle mayo) are always very solid and the staff are hard-working and kind. They have a huge menu with tons of cream cheeses, and my friends and out-of-town visitors who prefer that kind of order have really good things to say about it.
I would recommend takeout just because there's not a lot of seating and it can get quite hot inside. But again, Bergen is a reliable joint, which is extra special given that its stretch of the neighborhood is mostly a bagel desert.

The bagels are ok but the service is slow in the mornings (despite few customers in the shop), the process is disorganized, and the staff are gruff — but not in a New York kind of way. Hard to explain.

This bagel shattered my beloved best friend's molar and she had to spend $300 after insurance on emergency dental surgery the day before she had to fly out of town for a dire family situation. Her dentist even said she has perfectly healthy teeth and couldn't imagine why her tooth would have broken but it was a bite into her egg and tomato on a bagel from this place (it was supposed to have cream cheese too but they forgot her cream cheese) that was the culprit. Also the service was really slow.
She is an educator at a NY charter school and is shaping the minds and lives of NY's youth. Our teachers deserve better.

I used toto come here often but had moved. When I went back I noticed the staff had changed. At that time the bagels seemed different. Yesterday I went back for the first time in like a year or two. The bagels were definitely not like they used to be. It have me the taste of a supermarket bagels not an authentic NY bagel.

Terrible spot. Came in to use the bathroom and the manager or owner on duty said it's for paying customers. As I'm waiting for my order of food, he goes back on his word saying the bathroom is for employees only. Don't come here if you value the word of others and don't like being lied to.

A pretty good, no-frills Brooklyn bagel shop. Main downside is how hot it is inside. I was sweating. The food itself is pretty solid, though.
I got an egg, cheese, and jalapeño on everything—bagel was semi-fluffy, fixings were fresh. The jalapeño was layered in large slices, which was texturally different from what I’m used to, but still good.
I also ordered a medium iced coffee with milk. It was OK, but had a bit of a burnt taste. They offer mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise, and hot sauce packets at the counter. The mustard and hot sauce went pretty well with my bagel.
No complaints about service—it’s straightforward and simple. Pretty neutral and normal. I don’t my bagel clerk doing a song and dance, so it’s all good. Overall this Bergen location is a solid choice for a quick breakfast or lunch. There are better options in the area, but at the price point this shop earns a 4/5 stars.

Rude customer service, they move so slow and are very short while dealing with the customer. Lines quickly build up and they move at their own pace.

My go to bagel shop for the last four years. Deserves better reviews! Workers are kind and prompt, bagels always fresh. Lines are not long compared to other similar places imo. Less than $9 for a sausage egg and cheese sandwich. Great regular neighborhood spot.
iced americano price was listed as 3.15, they ran my card for 6.48
Delicious fresh bagels and great service.
