Bersi is SO GOOD, and a rare affordable gem in NYC. 3 of us shared the Weye combo (can’t remember all 7 dishes we ordered). We were so full we even had to take home leftovers, which is amazing for $15 each. Everything was delicious. We also had baklava afterwards which was great. And the Ethiopian coffee was on point. All around great food, great service and a lovely setting for half the price you might pay elsewhere.

We had the black tea, the Gomen, the Misir Wot, and the Baklava. Everything was really tasty and so filling! The service was really nice, too. ☺️

Might be the best food in Brooklyn!

I’ve opened my third eye drinking their coffee for the first time. My first time eating Ethiopian food, and I’ve ALWAYS wanted to try it. I saw this place advertised to me on my reels on social media and loved the unique culture. My ‘tism senses tingled and wanted to try something neat and new, learn extensively about their culture and visit the cute little cafe. They light and incense when brining over their authentic coffee, making it more of a ritual than an actual drink. To me, this changed my whole perspective on coffee. I love coffee, have worked as a barista for a while, and spend a lot of free time learning how to perfect coffee. Meanwhile, the simplicity triumphs over chemistry. I’ve been drinking coffee wrong my whole life, and this was actually jaw dropping- it wasn’t sweet, but it was a meal, delicious, spicy, earthy, and reminded me a lot of a potent black smoked tea. There are way too many people promoting European coffee culture when the beautiful people of Ethiopia have mastered their craft.

I also ordered their food for the first time, all of it was vegan, which was a nice little surprise that I am not too mad about. While I am not typically vegan I think that the level of spices that they added to their foods permit perfection, and the way they eat it with their sponge-bread is profoundly brilliant. In the west, using metal utensils takes away half the flavor and fun of enjoying a food culture, and that was one thing that’s always intrigued me about Ethiopian cuisine. I’m already in love with this culture and it makes me want to visit the breathtaking culture one day to experience what it’s like to immerse myself in one of the oldest and most stunning food and cultures to exist! :3/

The food is excellent. Since there isn't a Ethiopian restaurant close to me, this will be a regular spot when we are in town.

Very kind staff and amazing food. However, they regularly have only one person running every single function up front — one person to take constant phone orders, to bus tables, bring food, reset tables. You can wait 25 minutes to get water — this is not a one-off where they were short on staff one evening, it happens again and again. And while you wait five phone orders will go in front of you. They’re clearly doing great business — time to hire more front of house staff to meet the volume of orders you’re getting. It’s unfair to their staff and to customers to run a business like this. Won’t be back until this improves.

Phenomenal food. The menu is great and the portions provide incredible value on top of an amazing flavor. Everything was cooked to perfection. We got a big plate of a bunch of different dishes. Everything seemed very authentic.

Ethiopian food with varying platter sizes. Portions were larger than expected and I ended up getting a second meal out of it. Baklava (and I think also some of the drinks?) had honey in it so i didnt get dessert :/
