I love their savory pies! We get a dozen at a time and stock the freezer, easy lunch or kids meal always on hand. The Argentine Beef and the Cumin Lamb are the adults favorites, the kids love the Bacon Egg and Cheese and the Steak and Cheese.
The guy on the phone said it’s the best and it is.
Easily the best Carrot Cake in NYC, and yes, I’ve had Lloyd’s, Hani’s, Billy’s, Carrot Top, Mia’s, Little Cupcake (which is actually not good at all), and many many others.
It has very similar cake layers to Lloyd’s and is truthfully not quite as warming, dense, or rich of a mouthful, but the icing is perfectly balanced. Velvety mouthfeel, not gritty or mealy like Lloyd’s, and not nearly as sweet. It’s a very dreamy nostalgic bite, and from someone who has tried hundreds of carrot cakes recipes at home and out at bakeries, this is as good as it gets.

I asked AJ to recommend between the oreo cheesecake and the red velvet cake. He without hesitation said the red velvet cake. Without a doubt the best I've ever had. Rich, dense, moist VELVETY ( a quality lacking in many red velvets) balanced by a not overly sweet cream cheese frosting. Went down smoothly even without a glass of milk or a cup of coffee

The cupcake was the driest most bland cupcake I’ve ever tried. The latte was meh. I was not impressed at all. The guy working seemed like he’d rather be anywhere else but there too.

Shepherd’s Pie was really tasty. 😋 Had friends from the UK who highly appreciated it too!
I found the lemon slice of cake to be too sweet but that’s just a preference thing.
I don't think there's a better bakery anywhere doing traditional American-style cakes. The dark chocolate, the carrot, the red-velvet are all incredible.
This place is a gem.

I got the steak and cheese savory pie and a slice of carrot cake, and the husky guy with the panther tattoo behind the counter was right, the whole thing was banging! I forgot his name, Pj or Aj? anyway, stuff was good and will be back! thanks for the good advice yo!

Though I don’t usually write reviews, I felt compelled to after hearing of others’ unpleasant experiences and, soon after, having one of my own.
After craving pie, I travelled to Betty Bakery as it is marketed as having much to offer in its pie department. I bought a cherry pie. Since there are not many places in Brooklyn that offer mini pies at their frequency, you can only imagine how repulsed and additionally confused I was to find the state of this pie; dough raw and inedible, the pie filling being canned cherries, and an icky pool of cherry liquid sogging and soaking the entire bottom of my box as well as the pie. Before I got a chance to even give this pie the benefit of the doubt it fell apart.
The truth of the matter is, Betty Bakery is on a steady decline — in customer service, in quality—which should ALWAYS be over quantity—and in passion for what they do. As I have been a member of the community for quite sometime, the general consensus is that people are gravitating away from Betty in order to avoid the sour attitude of the owner who seems to have not a bone of pleasantry in his body for the good people he serves. If the nastiness of this guy hasn’t turned you away, let the lack of freshness being sold in a bakery that claims to be fresh do it for you.

Great pies
For my 60th Birthday celebration, I made an unusual request to have their lemon bundt cake recipe made into a sheet cake to decorate for the celebration; the owner was very attentive and patient. The cake was a HUGE HIT! It looked (simply) marvelous, as I would have it! Delivery was timely, which is very important.
Quiet cosy bakery w the best pies, savory or sweet!
Great coffee, yummy lemon bars and many other treats to enjoy. Plus beautiful custom cakes to order
Definitely worth a visit
