This is by far one of my favorite Carribean restaurants in Brooklyn! The oxtail and rice and peas are so good. The drinks are strong and flavorful. My favorite is the Drunken Lust (if you want to get knocked out by the end of the night, that is the go-to.) The plantains are cooked to perfection, served with a delicious cilantro sauce. I went several times -- during the Holiday season and 3 times casually -- I can say that the setting is nice. The dining area is clean -- tables and cutlery are clean. However, I would say that the space between tables is small. The restaurant can feel crowded at times, even if there aren't many people there. The music is great~ but the service time could be better. I had to wait for quite some time before the appetizers arrived. Overall, great experience. Unfortunately, no photos. Next time, I will be sure to add some.

The food here SLAPS! My Manhattanite friend was in Brooklyn for a game at Barclay's, but wanted a sit down meal from a nearby place - good, flavorful food that didn’t taste like you could eat it out of a box at Barclay's. So we ended up at BK9. This Haitian restaurant hit the spot. It did take a second, but that only means the food was gonna be GOODT. When it came, she wasn't mad about that the game had already started. She relegated herself to listening after her plate showed up during our catch up. You're not gonna get any free bread; everything that comes to the table must be ordered, but when it arrives, you're not mad about the bill - BK9 deserves what they charge. The hints of Haiti are throughout the menu, but nothing misses as far as letting you know this is Caribbean fare - from the drinks to dessert. We sat near the speakers so keeping up the convo was a little hard for me, but that’s ok - conversations cease when the plates show up. And the music is good. My friend says we'll be back. She never lies.

BK9 is NOT thee place for drinks. It was a party of 2, I ordered 2 drinks originally. And two more shots at the bar. I’m not sure why the extra 9.60$ (Large Party) fee was necessary. There should be transparency about this extra fee for “large party”. What business charging extra 20%with no transparency ? They tried to play it off but three extra fees is a bit much when looking back at the receipts. Management please contact me because why are two people including myself considered large party? Definitely not right four drinks summing up to 60+ dollars.

Food was amazing. My drink was strong but balanced. I love Caribbean food and I will definitely be back with my family and friends. Also our server, Ricky, was amazing. Attentive and very friendly. Was handling the floor all on his own and was on point. This place is great. Probably best in the area.

A really cool black-owned restaurant/bar on 5th Ave, one block from the Barclays Center. We visited on Saturday night to celebrate our sorority sister's birthday 🎂. I had no knowledge of this spot prior. Very cool, nice atmosphere. The bartender, Ms. Joann, may have been a bit overwhelmed at all the orders co.ing at her, but once I got my Rye old fashioned, she did that drink absolutely right!! 👏 👏 👏 👏 Towards the end of the evening, we decided to order the peppered shrimp and paired the great sauce with the peas and rice. Delicious pairing (perhaps add to menu as an entree dish)!!!

Nice atmosphere, cool staff. We'll be back.

I went to BK9 after the Katt Williams show at the Barclay's Center. When we arrived the back room was empty and we were the first seated. The room filled up fast. It took almost 3hrs to get our food. People who arrived after us received their food, ate and left. We were still waiting. A drink at our table spilled and I cleaned it up with one of the black napkins. Chris, our server, was also the bartender and cashing people out so he couldn't attend to us as much as we would have hoped. We all ordered burgers and fries in the hopes we would get it pretty quickly.....wrong! Almost 3hrs for burgers and fries is crazy! The burgers were mid, at best. The experience was horrible. There was obvious confusion in the kitchen area, which you can see as you go to the restroom. I dont know if the large crowd caused the mid food and subpar customer attentiveness but I wouldn't revisit on a Saturday night after a show at the Barclay's. Chris did his best. He really was trying, offering drinks, but we were hungry! We wanted food.
(Photo cleaning up the drinks and thee burger and fries that took 3hrs🥴)

The moat expensive caribbean restaurant in brooklyn. I get the same foods for $15 to $20 max other places. Good luck anyway.

The oxtail dish was very very good, I enjoyed it. On the other hand, for a Haitian Caribbean restaurant the choice of music which was rock leaves something to be desired, I expect to hear kompa or other Caribbean sounds.

The food and drinks are really really good but the customer service is horrible. We had to wave the waiter down each time he wouldn’t come check on us to see if we needed anything. And then a tip of $27 was included in the bill which he didn’t deserve and it was only a party of 2 me and my boyfriend.

Visited here for a friend’s birthday I can’t comment on the food I never ate. The service was horrible they got the drinks wrong the atmosphere was live people eating n dancing but they had no security and people were just walking in and out in the establishment in any event if someone was to become violent anything could have popped off. Lets get to the part that ruined my entire night. Went to the restroom when I came back this drunk guy was in my chair n my girls were asking him to please leave our table he refused n kept mumbling. I stud up to draw attention n he groped my private area n was also trying to grope my friend I was furious. I asked for the manager I noticed him throughout the night delegating to staff. He came over to addressed the incident he did absolutely nothing I was pissed. In my mind I wanted to fight this man he just touched me n ur not even throwing him out. I started to call the cops but we just left. I will never go back. He was definitely in for a beating if he came outside 5 to 1 n then I would have called the cops!

I made reservations for a group of 3 at BK9 for my mother's birthday on 01/07/2025. When we arrived my group asked to sit somewhere different. The host/waiter seem to have attitude with our request. We were finally seated. I noticed the seats were ripped and uncomfortable. The host went on to ask for drink orders , we ordered two rum punch and one fruit juice. While we were looking at the menu, my mother who suffers from nerve damage in her hand spilled her drink. The same host/waiter once again gave attitude and wasn't friendly or courteous at all. At this point we were sitting at the table for about thirty minutes. No one including the host/waiter asked my group what food do we want to order or check up on us. The resturant was not busy. My mother and I went to the restroom and passed by the host/waiter just talking and hanging out with the other staff. I asked the host/waiter for the check and he rushed with excitement to check us out. I am very disappointed with the service I received at BK9. It was very unprofessional and not pleasant at all. I would advise people to not come here if you want to deal with rudeness and bad service! I had to find another place to take my mother for her special day.
