She has a severe nut allergy, so we asked the chef directly if the pesto on the turkey sandwich contained any nuts. He assured us it did not. Moments after taking a bite, my sister began having an allergic reaction. When we asked to see the ingredient label, it clearly listed cashews.
Not only was this a dangerous mistake—it was handled with zero urgency or apology from the staff. Completely unacceptable and potentially life-threatening.

I asked to see the label of the pesto and it contains cashews. As I am having an allergic reaction, no one on the staff offered to refund or apologize. Instead, the man who told me there was no nuts in the pesto tried to explain that cashew wasn't a nut?? Completely unacceptable behavior.

Delicious coffee and pastry assortment. The vibe was great walking through the door. The café is bright and full of natural light. The service at the counter from the young girl with the light hair did not match the vibe of the others, and she was bland when handing me my order. Instead of answering my questions, she just pointed. I will be returning despite the interaction because the coffee is on point, and one person doesn't define the rest of the team.

They don't have wifi and unfortunately won't tell you that they don't have wifi until after you pay for your drinks lol. Also the barista was rude to me when I ordered.

It's a very good spot to grab coffee or a snack. Clean and urban vibe. It's a strong coffee and a good number of seats. Window bar with a hot cup, a bit of Spotify, and watch the people pass by.
If you like being around people, in s chill enviro, and like coffee and black stars, then you really have to stop here on your travels.

I love black Star. I always go to the UES location. This was my first time in their Brooklyn location and it is as good. Food is great. healthy, and fresh. My favorites are the avocado toast and chai but you cannot go wrong with anything you order. The pastries are to die for. The staff is warm polite and welcoming and the place itself is beautiful and clean. A perfect coffee shop.
It's a really chill cafe/bakery, the coffee and the food are excellent. The music is super smooth and relaxing. Definitely I'll be back

Breakfast sandwich was delicious with sriracha mayo!! The chocolate halvah pastry was unique and soft on the inside with a little crisp on the surface. Highly recommend and great vibes here for a lowkey breakfast and coffee.
