Fantastic steak and eggs. Coffee was great also. Open and airy vibes inside. Great people working here.
The owner (sadly I did not catch his name) was so accommodating, friendly, and knowledgeable to my son and I. The spot is a cutesy little Cafe vibe serving up delicious and healthy homemade cuisine and beverages. The prices are fair, the quality is great, and the food was delicious. We just happened upon this little spot and thoroughly enjoyed every moment. Thanks for your kindness!
Delicious brunch with and island spin
best coffee in the neighborhood! (and I’ve tried them all) also, good pastries. highly recommend the herb corn muffin
This is my favorite spot in the neighborhood when I want to work at a café. The owner and workers are so sweet and really great at giving suggestions if you don’t know what you want. I typically get a pastry (the apple cinnamon muffin top is my is my favorite) all the drinks are really good. My go to are the chai and ginger lattes. i’ve also gotten the breakfast burrito, which is really filling and delicious.
This spot is severely underrated. Sherman and his crew provide wonderful service with some of my favorite food items among the laughable number of cafes duking it out for cortelyou rd’s top dawg status. Sherman’s operation truly does the most when it comes to making actual good food and coffee. I ordered 2 dozen of those amazing crunchy, sweet, savory, buttery corn muffins for my family’s thanksgiving dinner. And I’ll do it again and again!
They host multi course tea parties on the weekends with really fresh and interesting pairings
Just overall my favorite spot in Ditmas park
Keep up the good work guys
Blue Star is very important to us. Before we opened, it was our go-to spot for planning, meetings, sustenance. It is a safe haven, a part of this neighborhood that honors its roots and reminds us of what Ditmas Park and Flatbush has been and what it can be. We swear by the breakfast burrito (and their other hearty offerings, taking inspiration from owner Sherman's St. Lucian heritage). Their pastries pair well with a wonderful selection of coffees and teas. We truly love this place and the people that have made it feel so real, so home. If you haven't been, go visit! You'll be back! And if you haven't been back in a while, go after you read this!
Fantastic cafe. They have a walk up window (great for picking up a coffee while walking your dog) but don't miss out on dining in!
this is the best coffee in a 5 block radius. very friendly staff
I hate leaving bad reviews but i am so pissed that i spent money here. i used to come here a lot. It's been a while since ive visited . Today I had the avocado toast with fried eggs on top. The guacamole was store bought let's start there, you guys cant be serious. Presentation was horrible. Everything looked like it was just slapped on the plate, no flavor, nothing, just cold bread smeared with store bought guac. The homefries looked like they were frozen. No salt or pepper on the table. Don't eat there people. There are other great coffee shops in the neighborhood that actually put time and effort into what they are serving and actually give a damn.
Restaurantji Recommends
Ordered pumpkin and apple pies from Blue Star for Thanksgiving. They were amazing. The bottom crust was so flakey and that is really difficult to do. Highly recommend!
Always great coffee and staff is kind. Ordered an apple pie for thanksgiving and it was fantastic - and vegan, which is tough to find locally! Love having them in the neighborhood!
Absolutely charming service. And! The backyard is heated and individually lighted. Great pastries and beverages!
Am I missing something? No waiter service, guy with an iPad says “what do you want” the second you walk in the door. How are you supposed to know? Not like they hand you a menu or anything. Just bizarre. Anyway, when I sat down I wasn’t brought a water or checked on once. My food (microscopic breakfast burrito) came with no utensils, no salsa etc, and I think one sole brown paper towel like you’d see in a public restroom. Still no water. Burrito so small I ate it in four bites. I was tempted to get a baked good but couldn’t stomach being ripped off again so I left.
I enjoyed watching the chess club on the back patio though.
I enjoy the food here. And the chef is wonderful
