Brownsville Nita fish and fry

Finally found us a fish fry spot in Brownsville! Not only was the fish and shrimp is smackin’, everybody was super nice and accommodating, which is refreshing…Nita’s will be our go-to from now on :)

I recently stumbled upon this restaurant while exploring the neighborhood, and after seeing its high ratings, I was eager to give it a try. Unfortunately, it was closed that day, but fate had other plans—on my second attempt, I found it open.
At first glance, the place didn’t seem overly impressive; it had the charm of a family business that’s still finding its footing. However, the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted by Chocolate, a lovely and attentive staff member who kept the place clean and welcoming.
Since they didn’t have soul food available that day, we decided to order the Basa with fries. Let me tell you, it was one of the best fried fish dishes I’ve ever had! The fish was incredibly fresh, with a perfectly crispy exterior and tender, soft inside. The seasoning was spot on, and the mild spicy pickled onions with carrots on the side were a fantastic touch—definitely a flavor explosion!
The fries were also quite good, but the star of the meal was undoubtedly the Basa. We ended up ordering the whiting fish as well, and it did not disappoint—just as excellent!
Overall, I’m glad I decided to give this place a shot. I’ll definitely be back, and I highly recommend you check it out. Don’t let the first impression fool you; this hidden gem is worth a visit!

A hidden gem! This food is absolutely amazing!!! Fresh, hot, and seasoned. Sumgoo is in there cooking up some delicious food and playing some dope music to vibe too while u wait. The shrimp and chips were fire and the whiting sandwich was crack! I’m definitely adding this spot to the rotation!

I finally caught this place open on a Sunday at around 5pm after seeing a lady do a TikTok review of it. On Google it gives a 2 pm closing time on Sunday but I took a chance anyway. I ordered fried whiting and fried shrimp. It was so crispy and good and it reminded me of my grandmother's fried fish and shrimp. I will be returning for more

My husband and I stopped by for lunch and it was great. So happy to see that this spot is black owned and the owner is friendly and personable. He gave us cake samples that tasted amazing. We ordered the shrimp, fish and French fries platter and I couldn’t even take a photo because we ate it all. Good was EXCELLENT. We will be stopping by again. ♥️

I was Disappointed the last time I went there, I received less food for more $, but the older Lady that worked there gave me more Fish, & told me she'd done so... I will be going back the food is on time & the people too.. I like Supporting my People when the Show They're Appreciative...
