came in this past saturday morning, coffee was good but barista stopped the line to yell into the cafe for me to come back up to complete the tip screen (i tipped in cash mind you and did not realize there was another screen). there was also an extremely long line w a long wait time for drinks (which is expected)… but seems like the priorities were misplaced

Ordered a Avocado toast and it came out with Mayo? Who makes avocado toast with Mayo? This should be inform to the client before ordering. The service is now well structured, the system is not organised and it causes delays and forgetting to make orders which happen to someone that was coming with us. Improve your system and your menus; it’s cute and all the way you have it on the wall but you should provide the clients with the ingredients.

From the coffee and teas to the food and the inviting atmosphere that encourages reading, reflection, and conversation, this is a great local coffee shop. With so much turnover in the area, I hope this place stays in business because it’s clearly loved by the neighborhood. Thank you, Cotton Bean!

Small place and felt slightly cold in terms of decor and vibe, just mainly disappointed with the drinks. Iced chai and iced latte were very milk heavy and tasted watered down, not worth the money but place is cute

Hey friends! This review is about sustainability.

I so appreciate your signage in shop, that communicates to folks that they can order their drink for here, to prevent creating waste. I also appreciate the fact that you offer real spoons to mix milks into coffee, and provide a receptacle for used, reusable dishes. And that you have real glasses for coffee and for the water refill station. As a customer, it means a lot to me to be able to support local businesses that are doing more to promote reusable, circular coffee habits.

By 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish, and over 95% of the plastic that we used does not actually get recycled.

To customers, reading this, if you are dining in house, you have the option to create less trash! No need to have your coffee on their lovely porch without a reusable. Thanks to the clear signage and options provided by cotton bean! Much appreciated.

I was a regular customer here for several months, visiting almost daily due to the convenient location. Unfortunately, I’ve experienced consistent service issues including forgotten orders, mix-ups with requests to warm pastries, and staff sometimes questioning whether I actually placed an order rather than acknowledging mistakes. As someone with barista experience, I also find the espresso quality inconsistent. While the staff has tried to resolve issues when they arise, the pattern of service problems has been frustrating as a loyal customer. I hope they can improve their order management - with some changes, this could be a great spot

It's a lovely little cafe with a great mix of hot and Iced coffee's. Delicious pastries and whole breakfast platters. Nice and homey little cafe, with inside and outside seating. Very popular with the locals.

I got food poisoning here. It attracts mostly White brownstone yuppies, and not a lot of other people in the community so the vibe is always weird county club to me.

I ran into a former employee in my neighborhood and they said that they were underpaid and disrespected. You can see it with a constant turnover of employees.

It has a good window to stare out of while drinking coffee, that's the only reason I still go every now and then. I mostly just go to the Black feminist bookstore a couple blocks over, or the Mexican Cafe across the street.

Cotton Bean is an excellent place in that is a simple coffeeshop, without gimmicks , without expanding their offerings beyond what is reasonable. Its a reasonable place. A logical place. A small simple operation pumping out delicious coffees in a very nice clean shop with friendly staff. It’s wonderful. Its precisely what a coffeeshop should be. I’ve encountered 3 coffeeshops like this one, the other two being Gotham and Olas where the coffee is spectacular, the service wonderful and the shop simple. Could offering no wifi be the secret to the enchantment of these places. Perhaps.
Id like to think so. Sit down, read a book, have a conversation, pretend its the 90’s… which for many was peak civilization.

Amazing staff. No management. All gluten free people stay away!!! The “rice noodle burger” is actually wheat noodles and seitan patty. I’m sick right now actually.

When you can find a place to sit it’s a great choice to relax with an Americano. The Kinpira sandwich (burdock) is delicious and my favorite

In any other city this would be a famous/renowned coffee shop on every tourist "must visit" list. Even for Brooklyn it stands out ahead of most others.

The pastries and coffee are outstanding, and it's very kid-friendly. Best croissant I've had this side of the Atlantic.
