Come and enjoy Austrian hospitality outside of Austria at this gem of a restaurant/bar. Great food, comfy athmosphere!

The staff refused to seat my wife and I, along with our 6lb pup on Aug 26th claiming it would be against health code. The waiter insisted their their hands were tied, and claimed their establishment would risk a health department violation. He even alleged that health department officers had recently been “cracking down” on restaurants allowing dogs in outdoor seating areas.FALSE. According to NY public health code Section 1352-E titled - Companion dogs at food service establishments - “dogs under the control of a person may be allowed in an outdoor dining area at a food service establishment...”Understandably this is subject to the establishment allowing it and their own restrictions. Had that been the case and the staff been honest, we would have been more than happy to return to Cafe Steinhof without our pet another time and gladly given them our business. My message to potential Cafe Steinhof diners, walk a few feet over to Lively Brooklyn or better yet, Fonda which has a higher Google rating and even welcome well-behaved dogs with a cool drink of water. Most importantly, they won’t turn away patrons with false information.

Steinhof continues to remain as one of my favorite German restaurants due to the amazing food and fun movie nights

Great food and nice staff! Schnitzel is always good but got the chicken paprika and tomato soup and it was delicious

A very good place to get a meal. It’s a little out of my normal walking route but a great delight to recall it’s on the way back from Nitehawk Cinema.

I’m obsessed with this spot. Steinhof has the best vibes, the best bartenders & waiters & such phenomenal food & drinks. I adore it here and can’t wait to go back. Does anyone know if/how I could buy a gift card to help make sure this 7th age treasure sticks around post covid? It’s vital and one of my favorite spots

This restaurant is definitely one of the best place to eat in the area. Anytime I come to this place I am awfully satisfied. They always keep their high standard service and the highest level of cooking they serve. You can never go wrong with this restaurant. Warmly recommended.

Interesting menu, not too expensive. Love it!

It’s alway nice being ignored when there are literally 4 people at the bar on a weekday afternoon and your bartender is more interested is chatting with her coworkers than doing her job. This is the second time this female bartender has shown an inability to be attentive and provide the simple service anyone would expect from a bartender. As our glasses sat empty in front of us for 10 minutes with absolutely no sign of awareness or willingness to see if we needed anything I finally said “excuse me” and with a slow turn and roll of her eyes she replied “I’ll be with you in a minute” and proceeded to tend to her personal business. I will never return to this place again.

Very good sausages, busy place during our visit on a Saturday evening. Drinks are slightly on the higher side. Very tasty food.

Great German restaurant in Brooklyn's Park Slope. They graciously seated 6 of us when a reservation at a neighboring joint fell thru. 2 of us had the chicken paprika with spaetzle and it was excellent. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the service and decor were first rate. Would definitely eat here again.
