Very rude manager
La Casa Publica is a little gem on Union Avenue in Brooklyn. The restaurant is on a corner, its windows are broad and tall, and the morning light for brunch inspires. You can't top the service or friendly feeling. I recommend the pollo al pibil as an appetizer (pictured). Enjoy!

The best Mexican spot in the neighborhood! Food and drinks to die for and service is incredible. They have an amazing Happy Hour that’s perfect for a fun night out or with a small group of friends.
We ordered the Enchiladas, Carnitas Tacos, Yucca Fries, and Esquites and everything was amazing. The churros to end the night were perfect!!!
Special shoutout to Tomas <33 he made our night so special by being attentive and kind.
Will be back soon!

Best Mexican restaurant in Williamsburg. Great food, especially the guac, tacos, enchiladas, chilaquiles, the omelette, and the churros. Great margaritas (esp cucumber jalapeño) and happy hour - and brunch is so good. Very cute, outdoor seating, & kind staff. We love this spot!

The bald guy with a beard has a bad attitude problem. He was rude and condescending, just for inquiring about an outside table. We were honestly shocked. He also said with a great deal of hostility and belittling intent that he’d drop the check for us to leave promptly for a table that never showed up. It was so bizarre and unwelcoming. Everyone else on staff was great - the other servers were totally fine. But this one guy's bad attitude ruined the whole night for our group. His behavior was so disrespectful that it's going to stick with us for a while. The food was ok and the restaurant vibe was fun, but we all agreed we wouldn't go back because of him.
Edit: I just searched for “beard”/“bearded”/“host” in the reviews and see that many patrons have also commented on his bad behavior. This is a recurring issue that should be looked into.

If you’re on the fence about going here… don’t bother. This place used to be great. Not sure what happened. Went once and had a sub par meal and weirdly bad margarita. Gave it another chance and it was even worse. Food quality seems to have taken a dive and everything seems overly prepped like it was made the day before. The “grilled” shrimp were practically boiled and didn’t have any sign of char whatsoever, the chips were basically crushed crumbs, and the tuna tartare seemed off (used to be my favorite!). Simply put, the food here is not justifiable of the prices, and not to mention the mid service and unusually rude host.

I’ve been a repeat customer of this restaurant for quite some time and have often recommended it to friends, family, and community members, as a native Brooklynite. This past Saturday, I happened to be in the neighborhood and stopped by to quickly run to the bathroom.
Upon entering, I politely asked a waiter with a beard where the bathroom was. His response was, “What about the bathroom?”, an unnecessarily rude and dismissive tone. I repeated that I was simply looking for the restroom, and he abruptly told me it was for customers only and I would not be allowed to use it.
As someone with a chronic illness protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), I was experiencing an urgent medical need. I didn’t feel comfortable discussing the details in that moment, but the way I was treated, with suspicion and disrespect, was unacceptable. The staff made no effort to handle the situation with empathy or even basic courtesy.
Unfortunately, after this experience, I can no longer support this establishment. I won’t be returning, and I’ll be advising my friends, family, and local community to take their business elsewhere. Kindness and respect should be the foundation of any customer interaction, especially for those who have supported a business repeatedly.

My cousin visited New York and needed a quick bite. As I walk from the park to my daily routine, I always pass by this spot. It turned out to be the best decision I could have made. The guacamole was fresh and had just the right amount of spice. The food was delicious, and the waiter was incredibly attentive. I highly recommend this place and have already recommended it to my friends.

Whether you come here for brunch or dinner, you’re going to feel like you just discovered your new favorite spot. The food is incredible, flavorful, and fresh and the drinks are perfect, especially the frozen margaritas!

Great food and such friendly servers. Vibes here are perfect.
We really wanted to like this one. We passed by this place a few times and we were attracted by the outdoor dining vibes. We decided to give it a try at 3pm on a Sunday afternoon. It was relatively empty expectedly. But the crew members were really tense unexpectedly.
The food was not bad. We enjoyed the mushroom omelette, and it was different than all other omelettes I’ve had in the city. But the chicken tacos were okay.
We didn’t know that Apple Pay wasn’t supported in the restaurant, so my husband had to run back to get the wallet. (We were on a casual run so we didn’t bring it.) The tip suggestion on the receipts writes “Suggested Tips: 22%, 25%, 28%. A 20% Tip is Customary” If we had known about these, we wouldn’t have chose here to spend our Sunday afternoon.

Awesome food. Fully gluten-free menu (although I didn’t ask about desserts). Great salsas, chile relleno was unusually complex and very nice.
