Felt like overpriced Mexican food, not worth the value. Guac had no salt. I got the lamb shank and there was literally 0 flavor. My friend got the chicken flautas and they had more flavor to it than the rest of what we got. I regret getting the wrong dish. The strawberry drinks were nice, not too sweet. Not sure I would come back. Felt disappointing. The decor inside was nice though.
Stumbled across Chavela's totally on accident(thanks maps for taking me to the wrong place.) The food, the drinks, the service, all so amazing. Our server, I think her name was Mary, was amazing and friendly. I can't wait to come back!!!
My husband is from Texas and swears that this is the only Mexican restaurant that truly competes with legendary Mexican spots down there.
Everything is delicious, and with new specials everyday. My favorites are their Al pastor tacos, the molcajete de carnitas, and their ceviche. Fantastic assortments of tequila and mezcal as well with generous flights. The salsa picante will blow your face off in the best way.
