A nice elevated Chinese place in Greenpoint for when you don’t feel like going down to Chinatown. I think you get a good value for the atmosphere and quality of food you get, along with portions too. All hits for me.

The Mapo Tofu was super good. Not overkill spicy and very flavorful. I really liked it. $15, but of course you need rice so $17. My GF got the Chicken Soup which I thought was okay. I’ve had variants of this, and I think the broth had an meh flavor.

Overall, though, a great bang for your buck and I’ll be coming back!

Quite literally some of the best food I’ve had in my entire life. Service was beautiful! There was a man with brown and blonde hair and another blonde server that were both kind, courteous, and well educated on the cuisine.

The hot honey fried chicken has an addictive sauce that is poured atop the chicken that is juicy, tender and perfectly fried. Boneless of course.
The wood ear mushroom salad is perfectly fresh and juicy and seasoned perfectly. The tofu soup was insane and please don’t forget the Dan Dan Noodles.

Amazing staff, vibe, kitchen, feels like you’re in someone’s dimly lit living room with an elevated vibe of coziness - including the bar. So beautiful and well done. Great date spot, family dinner, or catch up with friends- music was the perfect level.

Cannot wait to make this a regular spot and I recommend ordering from here if you can’t get a table- it is that good. Thank you so much !!!

Cute little spot for Szechuan cuisine. The mapo tofu is out of this world. Very cozy, and I don't think reservation is needed. Takeout is also possible, but the menu is a bit more limited than what you can get for dine-in.

NYC dining in 2025– everything has to be a “thing”. Low key spots like Chiko are dime a dozen these days. Simple menu, veg options, amazing food, and best of all, fair prices. It could all be so simple…

Excellent atmosphere and service, and the food was really good.

Got the green beans, which were excellent and didn’t have the little stems attached (which I find troublesome). Also got mushroom dan dan noodles! Very tasty.

This place has almost everything I want in a Chinese restaurant. Thoughtful, authentic and elevated food with very reasonable prices. Elegant atmosphere. Lovely servers who give great recommendations.
The jellyfish ceviche was the most bold dish on the menu and it was incredible. The fried chicken (app) reminded me of home but the hot honey paid homage to the neighborhood Greenpoint. It was so juicy and might be my favorite fried chicken in NYC. The peppercorn icecream is fun and mapo tofu hits the spot.
Only thing is I wish there's cocktails ☺️.
Had an unexpectedly meaningful meal and I wish there are more places like Chiko!

I visited this place during my trip to New York. After days of eating nothing but burgers, pizza, and bagels, I was craving something more comforting — and I finally found it here. The mapo tofu and dan dan noodles hit the spot perfectly. The seasoning was just right, and they served a generous portion of rice. The staff were kind and welcoming, and the food was absolutely delicious. If I had discovered this place earlier, I would’ve come back several times during my trip. It’s truly a perfect restaurant for anyone who enjoys Korean-style flavors!

Chiko is probably the best restaurant in Greenpoint and one of the best Chinese food places in NYC. They even do this with such limited items on there menu. I feel like places like Birds of a feather have to worry if they introduce other dishes in to the mix because like the current dishes; they will probably have the perfect balance of flavor and spice.

This is an underrated little hidden gem. Presentation, taste & service were all very good. Nice clean decor.
Recommend the chicken, noodle soup, spicy wonton & string beans. Will try more on next visit.

Wonderful little gem in heart of Greenpoint. Delicious small menu and great service. The green beans, mapu tofu & stir fried rice were fantastic.
