The prices are fair. The portions are fair. The environment is minimal but exactly right. Food is delicious. Come dine in! You’ll love it and it won’t break the bank. The fried chicken and eggplant with ground beef are quickly becoming classic choices.

Usually dont write reviews when food is not great but dont understand how this place has a 4.8 at the time of this review. The food was not good at all. We ordered the hot chicken, with some pieces feeling undercooked with pink a center. Cucumber salad was ok. But the main dish, the chicken steak was fatty, chewy, and just not good. Service was attentive and place is nice at least...

This was a go-to takeout spot — my partner is celiac, and most entrees were naturally gluten free without skimping on any flavor. We ordered delivery for the first time in a while tonight and unfortunately it seems as though the recipes changed. The entrees that were previously gluten free are not anymore, and my partner got sick. It’s truly a shame!
Supremely tasty Mala classics. Mapo tofu & Dandan noodles are essential.

Can’t wait to return. Chiko is a really cute date spot in a cozy atmosphere with lovely staff. Another good restaurant for wood ear mushroom fans! 🍄🟫 Loved the eggplant with chili garlic sauce and the crudo appetizer. I want to try everything on the menu and am looking forward to it!

One of the best Chinese restaurants around Greenpoint. Eggplant with chili garlic sauce, string bean salad and cucumber salad were so delicious. We will definitely be back to try even more delicious meals.

Havent even left yet. Still sitting here and loving every bite. Not a bad thing on the menu. Might be my new favorite restaurant.
A nice elevated Chinese place in Greenpoint for when you don’t feel like going down to Chinatown. I think you get a good value for the atmosphere and quality of food you get, along with portions too. All hits for me.
The Mapo Tofu was super good. Not overkill spicy and very flavorful. I really liked it. $15, but of course you need rice so $17. My GF got the Chicken Soup which I thought was okay. I’ve had variants of this, and I think the broth had an meh flavor.
Overall, though, a great bang for your buck and I’ll be coming back!

Quite literally some of the best food I’ve had in my entire life. Service was beautiful! There was a man with brown and blonde hair and another blonde server that were both kind, courteous, and well educated on the cuisine.
The hot honey fried chicken has an addictive sauce that is poured atop the chicken that is juicy, tender and perfectly fried. Boneless of course.
The wood ear mushroom salad is perfectly fresh and juicy and seasoned perfectly. The tofu soup was insane and please don’t forget the Dan Dan Noodles.
Amazing staff, vibe, kitchen, feels like you’re in someone’s dimly lit living room with an elevated vibe of coziness - including the bar. So beautiful and well done. Great date spot, family dinner, or catch up with friends- music was the perfect level.
Cannot wait to make this a regular spot and I recommend ordering from here if you can’t get a table- it is that good. Thank you so much !!!

Cute little spot for Szechuan cuisine. The mapo tofu is out of this world. Very cozy, and I don't think reservation is needed. Takeout is also possible, but the menu is a bit more limited than what you can get for dine-in.
NYC dining in 2025– everything has to be a “thing”. Low key spots like Chiko are dime a dozen these days. Simple menu, veg options, amazing food, and best of all, fair prices. It could all be so simple…

Excellent atmosphere and service, and the food was really good.
Got the green beans, which were excellent and didn’t have the little stems attached (which I find troublesome). Also got mushroom dan dan noodles! Very tasty.
