Great customer service, but sometimes their food is a little bland. I had to throw out one whole dish because it had no taste.

My family and I had dinner at the CHINA NEW STAR RESTAURANT, on Flatbush Ave. We have been dining there for many, many years. Well tonight was our last meal there. From the start when we ordered appetizers of Shrimp Toast & Dim Sum it went down hill. The waiter brought us Dim Sum and an egg roll. When I corrected him, 15 minutes later, he brought me an order of burnt shrimp toast. When I showed him that it would be unfit to eat he returned it to the kitchen. Another 15 minutes goes by and finally shrimp toast. This order was made from the white bread ends and was hard and awful.
Now for the main courses. The egg fu yung was delivered with a bowl of Charcoal over fried, dried out rice. We asked for a replacement. Back to the kitchen it went (all the while egg fu yung is sitting there getting colder). Then waiter brings burnt, overcooked shrimp and bacon. Back to the kitchen it went (all the while egg fu yung is sitting there getting colder). Even the waiter is getting embarrassed. Now we had the shrimp with bacon & no fried rice or egg fu yung. Then the undercooked fried rice with old hard pieces of pork & the cold shrimp with bacon arrives We ask to speak to manager & are ignored. Finally after 3 requests, a young hostess arrives to hear my plight. She takes notes, says manager is off & there is nothing she can do....Also, noodles and dipping sauce must be a shortage because we had to request numerous times. Soup bowl's the size of dessert bowel. The hot tea was never refilled & service not only bad, but also slow. The only thing served in a timely manner was the check which totaled $95.80 which I paid sans tip. Never Again will we go to China New Star.

I live in Chinatown and nobody does authentic Cantonese cuisine anymore. My friend brought me here and it was like a time machine. Dishes prepared how I remembered and delicious. From the Soup and Shrimp Toast to the Shrimp with Lobster Sauce, the drinks, staff and atmosphere it was an awesome dining experience.

Since restaurant changed hands several times, food is not good. They changed menu and prepare some dishes differently and could not eat it

Love it there. But they killed me when they took the Cantonese Duck off the menu. That was my favorite dish.

After the experience I had tonight this restaurant doesn't even deserve a 1 star but that is the lowest the ratings go. I went out to dinner with my family. One of my family members is out of town and was really looking forward to NY Chinese Food. We get in there and the waiter was taking our orders. I simply asked him for my favorite dish sesame beef with fried rice. Simple right? Well here is what happened next. He tells me nope, it only comes with white rice. The fried rice only comes with the sesame chicken combo meal. Say what? I have been ordering this for over 30 years! Tonight was the first night I was told absolutely NO substitutions or changes allowed. Why you ask? Because they have a system for putting in orders that doesn't allow substitutions. The only way for me to get sesame beef with fried rice was to get the $29 sesame beef meal and then pay an additional $13 for an order of fried rice that only comes in one size. Absolutely ridiculous! I never heard of this before in my life. The manager was very rude and arrogant as was the other staff. We ended up walking out the door and had a delicious Italian dinner at the pizzeria down the Block. Now my family and I are looking for a new sit down (not take out only) Chinese restaurant to patronize.
