Poor experience, server was inattentive, the kitchen wasn’t able to accommodate allergies and instead of letting us know, they didn’t bring out the meal and it took another 30 min to get food to the table. Didn’t offer to compensate us in any way, would not recommend.

I don’t normally write reviews, but felt like I had to. Even for NY, this was extremely overpriced for what you get. Typically, high prices come with food that’s out of this world, but to put it simply, this wasn’t good or worth the money.

Authentic Mexican in Brooklyn—bright mezcal cocktails and handmade tortillas.

Were we being Punk’d…?! The price vs the portion sizes and quality of food is beyond a joke here. Despite the restaurant being mostly empty on a Saturday night (now we understand why), we were sat underneath an air conditioner that was on full blast and freezing cold, but they did not change anything after we asked them to reduce the air / turn the temperature up. Half of the plates we were served food on were chipped - if you’re charging $50+ for a main course, can you not afford new plates?! This place needs new management asap.

As a Latino in a gentrified neighborhood I was expecting to be blown away. I left disappointed. Drinks were great but food portions were so small for the price.
Beautiful presentation and ambiance. Flavors were great but free the price

When I came I was a little early and the shop front was still closed. I waited until five minutes past the opening time. When I looked inside I saw the staff doing minor things like lighting candles that could have been done after I was inside. I finally was let in at 5:36. After that the food was good and the aesthetics were nice. Overall I think this restaurant doesn't deserve another Michelin star but it still is a nice place.

The bone marrow was amazing. Very flavorful. Worth trying!
We also got the, beef tongue and cheek tacos, which were very good, but not mind blowing
The short rib portion was very very small for $60, and it was not stand out in any way. Very underwhelming and not notably tender.
I recently went to Casa Enrique which comparatively had much bigger portions, lower prices, and the food quality was comparable or slightly higher.
Overall the food was good and we had an enjoyable experience but in general in NYC I expect much higher quality at this price point. I was not wowed and I would not come back.

I'm Mexican and this is not an authentic nor a nouvelle cuisine. The place is overpriced ($36 for 3 scallops) and barely enough meat in the tacos. They need to check their cornmeal because the tortillas, chips and memelas were stale. The service is terrible. I have food alergies and the waitress was annoyed to ask if one of the dishes had the ingredient I can't eat. I asked her to let me know if anything had that ingredient We told her we were sharing and she still didn't tell me to avoid one of the dishes. The good: mole rojo without the chips and the drinks.

Worst Mexican restaurant in Brooklyn. I'm not sure what's worse, the food or the pretentious of being an Oaxacan restaurant. Perhaps the only two things that may pass are the mole with totopos appetizer and their cocktail offer. The mushroom memela was dry and hard. The Mole verde is anything but Mole verde. Portions are bad served and are so overpriced.

It’s not a Mexican restaurant, much less one that serves Oaxacan food.
The prices are very high and don’t match the portion sizes.
$36 USD for an aguachile with 3 scallops, literally... a rip-off.
$28 USD for 2 barbacoa tacos with a small spoon of meat... are you kidding?

Stay away if you want to have any food with flavor. Of course, if you want to have some bland over priced food where you get charged for basics like cold tortillas then by all means, Claro is the place for you.
The crowd is indicative of the authenticity and I was sat on a folding chair. 🪑

Good food. We had the pork tacos and the trout mole. We enjoyed both dishes.
Was an amazing experience. Food was excellent and my wife who is gluten free had the time of her life!
