Consistently excellent service and food. I can’t believe after so many goings, I haven’t written a review! The quiches are incredible, the fruit perfectly ripe and crisp, and their coffee selection is very thorough considering it is not all they do. Seats fill up quickly, so I do recommend going early or on a weekday.

Couleur Café in Brooklyn has become our absolute “go to” breakfast spot every time we’re in town. The entire menu is phenomenal — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. And the coffee… just wow! Having once owned a café in Portland, OR, I can say with confidence that their barista is truly gifted. He serves lattes in a small bowl with stunning latte art that elevates the whole experience.

Each visit, the service has been nothing short of excellent. Even though we only come in every four to six months, they always recognize us and make us feel like regulars. The intimate atmosphere instantly transports us to a cozy neighborhood café in France, as though we’re sharing breakfast with locals near Prospect Park.

If you’re looking for an outstanding breakfast or brunch experience in Brooklyn, Couleur Café is a must.

Stopped into Caldor Café for a quick lunch, ordered the croque monsieur and mushroom soup.

The croque was solid: crispy bread, generous Gruyère, well-balanced, but not particularly memorable. The kind of dish that satisfies but doesn’t stay with you. The mushroom soup tasted like… mushrooms. Earthy, warm, but very middle-of-the-road.

Staff were kind and efficient, water came fast, and I got an outdoor table right away. They did try to move things along a bit quickly, but I slowed the pace and they rolled with it.

All in all, a perfectly fine neighborhood café. Nothing bad, nothing standout, just a simple, good-enough stop if you’re nearby.

Amazing French restaurant in New York! The food was authentic and beautifully prepared, the atmosphere felt like a Parisian brasserie ( what i missed), and the staff was warm. A wonderful dining experience, highly recommended !!

Owners are amazing people. Started coming here last fall and fell in love with the couleur sandwich, switched up my order a few months later, got the croque madame, single handedly the best breakfast I’ve ever been served. Cannot recommend this place more. Everything is great from ambiance to service and especially food quality.

Ate there multiple times Last two service was rude. They close at 6 PM. We came at 5:30 and was told to order immediately. We did and food was fine. Last time we entered at 5:30 and was told the kitchen was closed. The staff obviously closes early and refuses food service at least 30 minutes before they stop allowing entry. Don’t think the owners are aware as they will lose money with this practice.

I had their seasonal mango/peach/mint lemonade (with a couple of slices of lemon, strawberries and blueberries as well) - absolutely loved it! ❤ Also tried red lentil soup which was delicious and comforting. The place has a nice atmosphere and even a couple of tables outside (the street is quite loud though). Anyway, a lovely spot, I'm glad I discovered it.

The young lady at the cooking station had 1/2 of her hair all over hanging out AS she was making food. Two servers were notified and asked her to put her hair away. She refused. In case the owner is not aware about the FDA restaurants food handling safety code:

In New York City restaurants, kitchen workers (like cooks and food preparers) are REQUIRED to use effective hair restraints under the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Food Code.

That usually means:
• Hairnets, hats, caps, visors, or other coverings to keep hair from falling into food!!!.
• Beards may also need a restraint (like a beard net) if they’re long enough to be a risk.
• The covering must fully keep hair out of food, though it doesn’t have to be a specific style (some kitchens allow baseball caps, chef hats, or bandanas as long as they work effectively).
Yes, she had a “hat” on , but all her hair were out of this hat hanging all over literally inches away from the food being prepared.
