I booked Dinner Party for my husband’s milestone birthday and hosted 36 friends by reserving the entire restaurant for 2.5 hours. I coordinated with the team from a month in advance, and they were all wonderful to work with. Everything ran smoothly and exactly as planned.

The food was delicious, the space was cozy, and it truly felt like an intimate dinner party at home. The five course tasting menu was served as cocktail style bites and was perfect for the evening. I can’t wait to go back and try more from their other menus.

We always have such a lovely time at Dinner Party! The food is so good, and you can tell the menus are created thoughtfully and intentionally. The service is consistently great as well and it really seems like the staff care about your experience. 10/10!!! Will come back again and again

This is a little gem! What a wonderful spot with friendly staff and the food is unexpected and DELICIOUS! I had the three course meal with vegetarian shepherds pie- it was amazing. Layers of rich flavors - every bite was excellent.
I know some people may not like the concept of the place, but trust - it’s worth it.

I thought the space was really pretty and nice but the price was quite high for what was included. Also we were told too last minute that we had to leave when there was only 10min left, that’s when they served the ending champagne glasses but also started clearing our table. It was super chaotic and could’ve been handled so much better.

Sadly, I was really disappointed by my experience here. I’d read so many good reviews before booking and chose this one of a limited number of meals on a trip to nyc. To start, the vibes are just okay. Cozy inside but lacked in real ambiance (candles) and music.
The 5 course menu felt sloppy and unintentional. The first couple were okay, but the salad course and main (a burger) were such a miss. The salad in theory sounded good but was not well balanced, far too bitter even for someone who likes bitter greens and spice. The burger was disappointing to see on the menu for a meal that cost over $400. And upon arrival the burger bun (homemade) was over proofed and lacked flavor. The patty was cooked well done and dry, I would have expected that they’d ask a preference or err on the side of medium to appease a crowd. The burger came with crispy potatoes that were served cold upon arrival. There was sauce but not enough and not flavorful. Truly was sad considering this was the main portion of the meal :/ One of the best courses was the dessert, it was as expected and delightful! I thought we’d end on a good note with dessert but then they brought out a final bite of an espresso merengue. The merengue were so chewy and sticky. Clearly they were not fresh from the day or had been left to the elements. All of this to say the chef and pastry chef lack thoughtfulness and skill in some areas. Perhaps it was just a bad night to visit as far as food went.
The service was okay. The host/waitress gave us half the explanation of our courses as the other tables, I think she assumed we were listening when she delivered them to our neighbors. The male bartender was delightful and recommended a wine that will be my new favorite. The cocktails were delicious!
The one note I have on service is that if each course is plated I should not be expected to keep my dirty fork and knife on the table between courses.

TLDR: very slow service, some good courses, may run out of menu items

Very cozy restaurant and a cute idea, but with a few flaws to consider.

We had the 5 course dinner menu of 10/14-10/27. Please note (as other reviewers stated) that if you are making a reservation here you should expect to spend a relatively long time dining. Our reservation was at 8:45, we didn’t have the main course until 10:20, and didn’t leave until 11:20. If that style of dining is intentional, it would be nice if it was disclosed to guests upon making a reservation. If it was unintentional, then this is clearly a consistent problem that needs to be addressed with the kitchen.

The speed at which courses were served was a bit confusing considering that the prix fixe menu had essentially 1 option for most courses, and only 2 courses (maybe 3, or a few plating accents on some dishes) seemed to be prepped at the time of dining.

In terms of the food, the gougere was ok but served cold and would have been better slightly warmed if not freshly made. The clams were the star of the meal and would have been even better if accompanied with a crusty bread to soak up the rich broth, or at least with the excellent homemade sourdough bread that was served at the beginning of the meal. The salad was an interesting flavor journey which I overall found pleasant.

Due to other obligations and the prolonged duration of dining, unfortunately I had to leave my party prior to receiving the main course. The waitress was very kind and apologetic and boxed up my main for me to go. (When I did eat it later, it was a well prepared pork chop). Since I had to leave, the lovely waitress also brought my dessert early. The labne panna cotta was delicious and creative, and the other diners in my party were definitely looking forward to it….

Except when it was time for their dessert course, the restaurant had run out of the dessert on the menu and they were offered a substitution of coconut panna cotta which was not to their flavor preferences.

Both the long gaps between courses and the restaurant running out of the listed dessert seem to reflect poor planning and coordination in the kitchen, which took away from what could have been an otherwise really enjoyable dining experience.

Dinner Party is such a special place - I first went when they were in Fort Greene and try to go every few months or when a menu really catches my eye. The food is always amazing, even if it's not something you'd typically order. The staff is lovely and you cannot beat the atmosphere. It's reasonable for what you get but still feels like a treat.

The food was excellent, and our server was warm, attentive, and very thoughtful in helping us select a wonderful bottle of wine for the table. I also greatly appreciated how carefully my allergies were accommodated, which made the experience much more comfortable and enjoyable. The location itself is very cozy and intimate, a perfect setting for a night of laughing with friends.

That said, I do want to share one piece of feedback. As this was my birthday celebration, I had been looking forward to the moment when the cake would be presented at the table. Unfortunately, the cake had already been cut before being brought out, which took away from what was meant to be a very special part of the evening and left me feeling extremely disappointed. To their credit, the team did try to make up for it on the spot with a round of shots and by waiving the cake-cutting fee, which I appreciated. However, I also sent a note to the team afterward and never heard back, which was especially disappointing since communication had initially been so strong.

Overall, I truly enjoyed the food, service, cozy atmosphere, and hospitality, and I hope this feedback helps ensure future celebrations are even more memorable for guests.
