Just a really delicious doughnut! You wouldn’t even know they are vegan Had to go back a few days later because I couldn’t stop thinking about how delicious these are! I got the strawberry basil, French toast, salted caramel, pistachio, almondine, and lavender. The only one that fell slightly short for me was the lavender because it had a different texture from the rest, but all were so delicious. Updated from previous review on 2025-04-07
The best doughnuts I have ever had! Hands down the best! Reminds me of a Japanese quality doughnut!

These donuts are primarily composed of icing and barely any dough. The excessive amount of icing makes the product hard to eat. It feels as though I have essentially paid for icing rather than a well balanced donut. If I had wanted that level of sugar, I could have simply purchased a bag of sugar from the grocery store.
Additionally, I have noticed that some donuts are significantly smaller in size compared to the other donuts. According to the store manager, this is “by design” or otherwise intentional, which raises concerns about fairness in pricing, as some donuts do not provide the same value as the other options despite them being sold at the same price.
When I had addressed these concerns with the store manager over the phone, I was informed that nothing could be done simply because I “did not like the donut.” However, these concerns clearly extend beyond personal preference—I am highlighting a legitimate health-related issue that prevented me from consuming or enjoying the product as intended.
As a long-time and loyal customer, I am disappointed by this experience and being treated with complete disregard and immediately dismissed for every concern I was expressing. No accountability was taken, in fact the owner Dan lacks any humility and did not see anything wrong. Dunwell I’m sorry for your loss because I will not be back. I also do not recommend. Simply if I could give this place 0 stars I would.

RUDE owner/manager when i called to advise their doughnuts are NOT edible because they’re too sweet and the ratio of icing to doughnuts is completely uneven. this is not healthy AT ALL for diabetics. he basically shrugged his shoulders through the phone and even said it’s normal for the cake doughnuts to be much smaller than the rest but they’re charging same prices??? how is that fair i bought doughnuts i can’t eat because they’re too sweet and filled with sugar and have to pay full price for smaller doughnuts and horrible customer service no empathy whatsoever

Super cute shop with some seats by the window! Loved the donuts we tried and they also have nice drinks and lattes! Pretty good price for NYC at $4 a donut as well!

Let us pen a revue for Dun-Well Doughnuts, a delightful shop in Brooklyn, NY, at 222 Montrose Avenue.
I paused here for a coffee and a touch of sweetness during my layover to London. What a bright beacon in this otherwise rather dingy quarter of the city. Just as I was preparing to step into a grocery shop and descend into the subway bound for JFK, I glanced across the street and beheld this cheerful haven beaming warmly back at me.
As the golden tunes of a bygone era chimed into my ears upon the door’s opening, I knew at once I had found precisely what I required. Transported to old New York, I was met with a radiant smile from the lady who graciously took my order of coffee, which was handed to me by a perfect gentleman, along with a lemon cake doughnut that tasted like pure summer. After a wearying day of train travel preceding this, and a wretched night in a hotel I dearly wish I had not booked, this moment uplifted my spirits and fortified me for the evening flight to London that awaited.
I tip my hat to the lord and lady of this fine establishment, whose grace and offerings made all the difference on this otherwise tiresome day.

In the Williamsburg area the word 'artisan' is thrown around quite liberally in many places.
Dun-well is one of the few places that is accurate in calling their food artisanal! The creativity in each creation makes them a true one-of-a-kind. Every flavor is thoughtful, fun, and absolutely delicious! There's something for everyone, from simple favorites to spectacular originals.
Once you have a donut Dun-well... you'll never settle for it done any other way. ❤️
