Finally stopped by this restaurant for lunch after moving to this neighborhood a few years ago. Not going to lie the exterior is a little scary but the food they make is delicious. They have lunch portion (considered small size) and dinner portion (large size.) The small size is still pretty big and can save you a few bucks. Good food, quiet and low-key by Avenue U's standards. East Ocean is located on the East end of Avenue U's Chinatown closer to Ocean Avenue where the activity and Chinese population is relatively smaller. The place is truly a dive, served by wait staff with an attitude. But the food is the only one local that has "wok hee" the fragrance of the wok! And that goes for all the other restaurants on Ave. U that have lost it. Their lunch specials are delicious and inexpensive; but bring or eat with someone who reads Chinese. Highly recommended!
