Eavesdrop’s been one of my neighborhood go-tos ever since it opened up a couple years ago. They just do everything right: consistently great classic and original cocktails, unfussy light bites that are better than they need to be (order the olives, for instance, and you’ll get a big plate full of Castelvetranos in a puddle of warm olive oil with good bread), and acoustics that allow you to appreciate the well-curated music and your conversation without yelling. What really makes it are the staff, who are unfailingly kind. Vern, one of the hosts, does such a great job of making guests feel welcome even on packed weekend nights.

we expected more from this place. as an avid audio enjoyer and someone who has been to listening bars in Japan, this is much closer to a causal bar with a really nice sound system. there was no respect being paid to the music or the DJ, the high quality music was a mere filler for everyone's conversation.
service was whack, they only brought us half of our food order and didn't tell us they were out of the Bahn Mi until the last minute. half way into our service we were told "hey! this spot is reserved at 7, if you could out of here by then. I know its 45 mins away, but thought you should know!" This makes your customers feel like they are being flipped and quickly turned around so the bar can make money. After being told this ridiculous statement and given a feeling that we needed to wrap things up, we were left in the dark and had to wait (past 7!) for our bill. By no means the lovely and casual evening out we were expecting.
and to close - you have GOT to cool it with the sesame seeds. it was literally in every dish and drink we had. if you have a sesame seed allergy, stay far far away from this place!

As a fellow service industry person I was so disappointed by the terrible service. It was blatantly rude & seemed bothered to take our drink order. We had a group of 5 who wanted to celebrate and spend money- the server/servers ignored us repeatedly was bothered by any questions we asked abt the menu. I had to go up to the bar to order several times only to find the server hiding by the computer vaping and texting. We would have stayed longer and spent more money but it was just awful service. The place is beautiful & the vibe was beautiful but we will not be returning as the service was so bad. So sad.

Vern, the maitre d started off by making our night - super cool and nice he got us to our bar seats where we proceeded to have one of THE BEST tasting and oh so complex mezcal and yuzu concoction custom made by the bartender. And it had old bay - so so good.
The ambience, drinks and most importantly, excellent staff (thanks again Vern and bartender sir) make this place such a catch!

Cozy spot! Staff caught wind it was our anniversary and made it a point to stop by our table to wish us well. Gnocchi and white bean were on point, brussells were spicy but still tasty and their sound system isss something to brag about. will be back!

Found the curly haired bartender in my picture to be really anal and rude. We came here on a Monday night for a birthday with around 15 people, it wasn’t packed or crowded and this guy came over multiple times demanding we sit with no real explanation of the policy, I assumed he worked there but also at one point there wasn’t even enough chairs for everyone to sit, some people tried cramming themselves trying to fit around the seats by the corner table.
When I went over to ask if it was the bar policy for everyone to be seated, he replied saying something along the lines of “you can stand and talk with one or two people but it can’t be a group” it didn’t make much sense and he had such an attitude in the way he spoke, multiple people in the group found him to be very rude. Our waiter on the other hand, the black dude with braids, was very polite and explained that the bar didn’t want us to treat it like a private party and he was just stuck between things… which is understandable to a degree and he was very nice about it but also it was a bunch of people hanging out at a bar that was not crowded on a Monday. You want us to be seated in these small seats the entire time we’re there?! We were also split into two different tables so naturally people went back and forth to talk and catch up, some of us haven’t seen each other in years.
At the end of the day, this is a service industry and there is polite way to speak to a group of people that don’t mean any harm. No reason for the bartender to go on a power trip and be a control freak. It just left a bitter aftertaste that I just wanted others to be aware of.
