If I could give this restaurant 000000000 stars I would !!! Their food is disgusting , and their service sucks ! Granted , their prices are reasonable , which should tell you that their food is garbage . They served me undercooked pork, as a server , married to a cook , we have plenty of experience in the kitchen to know when meat is not the correct temp. You could tell the pork had been fried still frozen , as if they didn't give it time to thaw out . It was just way too chewy. And it was pink on the inside . Unlike STEAK pork MUST BE COOKED FULLY ! I ate the pork at 2am .. and drank some water with it . From 6am -2pm I was throwing up. I'm 115llbs . So you can imagine what that did to me . I was literally in the hospital all day . I have my records and will be pursuing a lawsuit against them. When I called the restaurant the manager really didn't care . If you want food poisoning , and horrible customer service , by all means , eat from el basura restaurant because that's what they should change their name to !!! Sickening !

This is one of my favorite places to eat. Do not listen to the negative reviewers. From the moment you walk in, you smell the amazing food. I've been coming to this restaurant for about 5 years now. It's about a 15 minute drive from my house-so worth the drive! I must say I go here about 2-4 times a week! I just can't get enough. From their Sancocho, pernil, carne guisada everything is just so amazing!

My husband and I used to always go into this place to dine. The place has recently been smelling like a sewer has backed up in there and the service has been absolutely horrible lately, so my husband and I have resorted to taking our food to go for the past few months. Today, January 8, 2019, we went to this place for takeout and the owner gave my husband an issue with using his credit card. After a confrontation, we were forced to pay cash for our take out. When we got home, we come to realize the owner failed to give us what we ordered (pernil with rice and beans and maduros) and only gave us the rice and maduros. We called to complain and the owner was very unaccommodating and rude, telling us he didn't charge us for it (when he did) and to return to the store to pay full price for the pernil. I will be reporting this restaurant for the foul sewer smell. While the food is usually good, I will not be returning and will communicate my harsh experience to the ozone park, Howard Beach, and Brooklyn community and businesses I am associated with because of the foul treatment my husband and I endured. I am highly unsatisfied with the owner of Castillo de Jagua on Cityline.

This is a quaint spot to go to on friday nights. With live music and delicious mixed drinks such as coconut mojitos and martinis. The food is fresh and you can't go wrong with the shrimp mofongos.. I've had fried pork chops, and pernil and the meat is so juicy. One of my top 5 places to go to in brooklyn.
