This place is one of my favorites! Reasonable pricing, large portions and the staff members are regularly very kind.

The pizza here is perfect thin crust. Gnocchi is fantastic, and all the salads we've tried are amazing.

Don't overlook this restaurant. I just figured it looked like another chain Italian restaurant nestled within Dekalb Market. There's so many options in the market that I never bothered to stop at Fortina for a meal. Fortina is open late so I went a few months ago with a friend for a quick bite and we were pretty impressed then even though we ordered simple items. Fast forward and a few visits later and Fortina has become one of my favorite spots for comfort carbs! Their pasta dishes are always cooked perfectly. The definition of al dente, exactly how pasta should be cooked. Consistently cooked perfectly! The service is always really friendly. Most recently had Derrick as our server who was very prompt in letting us know it may take an extra few minutes when it's really busy. He was funny, personable, helpful and attentive. If you're in the area or seeking out the Dekalb Market to try all the other vendors, Fortina is definitely worth a visit! It's also way cheaper than the rest of the market for better food and larger portions.

I’ve walked past this place for almost a year before trying it. Glad I gave it a shot last week. The happy hours could be better but I loved the brick oven margherita pizza we ordered. The vegan meatballs were great but wish they came with pasta, especially for $18. The wood-fired half chicken was delicious and the sweetness from the sweet potato and dressing from the side salad made for a tasty meal.

Every other thing I have eaten at DeKalb is really good. This was not. The restaurant wasn't that busy, there were many open tables. After sitting down, we waited 10 minutes for a server and 20+ mins to get water on the table -- water for the table arrived after the first dish was served, even as I tried in vain to make eye contact with our server. We were given a free pepperoni pizza that he clearly been an ordering error from another table (it was delivered lukewarm) and told that it was a gift from the kitchen to compensate for the wait -- just wasn't true, and also wasn't necessary given that we had just ordered plenty of food for the table. Someone at the end of our meal came over and said she was going to "detail our table," which I assumed meant sit down and debrief what had gone wrong, but she actually meant she was going to take everything but the wine we were finishing off the table. The pizza was fine, but not worth seeking out this place for it. The famous meatballs from the spaghetti and meatballs tasted like cat food and took my appetite away with the first bite. The arugula salad was candy sweet. The bathroom wasn't filthy but it wasn't well kept, which is always off putting. The trash was overflowing.

Happy hour 4-7 everyday — beer, wine, pizza, and snacks!

I had a wonderful meal here with friends recently. We had a reservation for a Saturday night at 8:30, but there were enough empty tables to suggest you might not have needed one. The vibe of Fortina is laid back and relaxed with a great playlist. Every employee we met was extremely friendly, warm and welcoming. We ordered a pizzeria salad to begin for the table, the size was large enough for a table of four to equally share. Next came out the brussel sprouts which were literally gone in about 2 minutes. I would highly highly recommend them as they were probably the best I have ever eaten. We ordered two pizzas and two pastas to split for our main course, the Tenderoni (Tomatoes, pepperoni, mozzarella, parmesan & Calabrian chili-honey) and the Luigi Blanco (Burrata, robiolona, parmesan cheese & black truffle). The tenderoni was a hit. The pizza is well done and crispy. The chili honey is not spicy but adds a great filling flavor. I did not have any of the other pizza, but it seemed like if we returned we would try a different one. The two pastas we ordered included the Fusilli (Tomatoes, onions, smoked bacon, chili, pecorino cheese, and chives) and the Whole wheat cavatelli (Sausage, garlic, escarole, and parmesan cheese). We cleaned both of these dishes. Some of the cavatelli on their own were a bit bland but when mixed with the escarole, sausage, and garlic, it had a nice flavor. Tasted like my mom's escarole. The fusilli sauce had a nice flavor to it. I should point out I despise red sauce, I am a bad Italian, I know, yet I did like this sauce! We had a great meal and will most likely return. I think you will have a great time too!

Fortina is our favorite local spot! The atmosphere is great and the entire staff is so nice. The manager, Katie, knows us well by now and always goes out of her way to make us feel welcome and taken care of. Being Italian, I don't usually ever eat red sauce out. The red sauce at Fortina is delicious! The pizzas are delicious as are the salads and the wood fired vegetables. My daughters favorite is the pasta with black truffle and parmesan. I usually go with the Branzino and broccoli rabe. They have a nice Montelpuciano by the glass and a full bar. Happy hour is every day from 4-7 where you can get $5 beer and wine and pizza for $10. Its family friendly with kids movies playing on a giant screen in the back. We've lived in Downtown Brooklyn for 12 years -so happy to have Fortina in the neighborhood!

Hi. I totally recommend Fortino. My fiancee and I had our engagement party here yesterday. This was our very 1st time reading here. We are from N.C. From the very beginning we felt special and they took care of every detail that we requested. They were attentive, considerate, organized and on time. We all enjoyed the food and drinks. The pizzas were so delicious and fresh. We will definitely go back.
