Gersi is a wonderfully cozy Italian spot with truly amazing food — especially their homemade pastas and their simple-but-perfect lettuce salad topped with grated Parmesan.
Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, and the surrounding neighborhoods are genuinely lucky to have such well-established Italian restaurants with consistently great dishes, and Gersi is definitely one of them.
A charming, delicious staple worth returning to!

We had a wonderful experience at Gersi! I had my birthday party here and we were a large party of 13 people. The staff was extremely accommodating, even when I had to make changes to the reservation day-of. They were super friendly and attentive while we were eating and even set the table with cute little birthday cards! The food was DELICIOUS. We ordered a wide variety of items from the menu and nothing disappointed. I especially loved the lemon spaghetti, chicken parmesan, and tiramisu! Highly recommend this little spot.

Came for my birthday. I was running late and they still accommodated. I had big balloons and they were sooo sweet and didn’t mind. Everyone who served us and waited on us was sweeter than the next, impeccable impeccable service. We had a reservation to run to after and they were so hasty in the best way we needed. Food was delicious, lemonade was so tasty. Would definitely return.

I was looking for an authentic Italian experience and I found it! Handmade pasta and the BEST house sauces (lemon, cream, red - everything is uniquely delicious). Generous portions of crab and other proteins. Try the veal meatballs and mushroom bruschetta. Explore vegetarian options too!
They can sub today’s house pasta in most dishes which I love. Ask for the specials because they tend to have many off-menu options every day. Seating is somewhat intimate but never uncomfortable. The server was so attentive despite a full house on a weekend.

My son, husband, and I dined here last night. I apologize that I have to be honest. I asked for no meatballs for with my gluten free pasta because I am gluten intolerant. I mentioned it several times to the server. The dish came out with meatballs in it and it had to be sent back.Truly, I should have been comped for the mistake. Therefore, I did not get to eat with my son and husband. I told them to go ahead and enjoy their meal while it was hot. The tomatoes in the my Caprese salad were not ripe, poor quality, and hard. Tomatoes should be garden fresh, bright red, juicy, and tender in a Caprese salad. Towards the end of the meal, my son asked for bread to soak up some sauce on his plate. Bread obviously came with dinner, but we were never offered it throughout the meal. And one last thing. The grated parmesan cheese came out in a small ramekin and I had to ask for the cheese. This is an Italian restaurant. The cheese should be freshly grated on top of your food table side. With just a few tweaks and attention to detail, this would have been an amazing meal.
Its so yummy! And the staff and service are excellent!

The black linguini blew me away. Best pasta I’ve had since my trip to Italy. So fresh, perfectly al dente, and rich in flavor. I cannot wait to come back!!!

We don’t understand why this place has such good reviews. The menu said handmade pasta but we got watery Barilla-like noodles.
Not only was the food just not good - but the service was disorganized at best. They didn’t set out water glasses so we had nothing to drink for the first 15 minutes.
We were not alone either. The family next to us didn’t get one of their kids’ pasta dishes until almost everyone else had finished their meal.
Our server kept saying our food would be out shortly but our food came out lukewarm (the mozzarella hadn’t melted and was cold). Meanwhile, they had cleared the bread so we had nothing to eat while we waited.

Small place in Brooklyn but really good Italian food; it does take a while for food to come, but worth the wait
Ricotta cheese was fresh
Pasta in the presto was a bit hard at first bite, but when we told them, the fixed it right away and apologized; better if they would have reimbursed us for our trouble
Nice romantic place if you wanna take someone; seating outside in front and back
Parking is an issue but it is Brooklyn

Went here for an event in the backyard. Service and food were great! Would recommend them if you're looking to have a private event, or even just a nice brunch spot.
