Did this crap finally close down for good?

The owner was a poor host. I was in a good mood when I walked in and I left feeling uncomfortable and despondent. There was an excellent wine selection and the pizza did the job, but these delights were easily dulled as the proprietor's unwelcoming aura clouded my otherwise enjoyable summer afternoon.

Went here last month. Good pizza.
Owner is incredibly annoying. Doesnât know when to shut up and leave the customer in peace.
Good pizza though. They should keep him in the back.

Come for the food and vibe, stay to flirt with Jef and see who you run into at the bar. The menuâs wine descriptions are worth five stars alone. A table outside on a beautiful day with whatever weird petnat Jef is pouring is just perfection.

Totally pleasant, delicious and in an amazingly cozy and comfortable location this is a great place to have in the hood. Specializes in wine , pizza and their Caesar is one of my faves in town!

Glouâs pizza is incredible. like Robertos good.
But heres the thing. The owner, the man with the beautifully coiffed long beard, seems to not be the happiest camper.
Iâm not professional shrink, but I would say with pizza that good, hes an artist. And like most artists he can be frustrated with these reviews.
Especially since his pizza is so good and he still has to deal with plg parents and their google reviews. Google reviews can hurt especially to probably this man and his incredible pizza.
But Mr. artists. - a quick history lesson on plg. Its the new spot for families who were priced out of park slope. Homes are 1.5 million, not 4.5 million like across the park so these are your customers, for better or worse.
So you are getting the park slope style crowd which like me are the professional college educated class and we are sensitive gen x and gen z folks. Well I am. People who are smart a students who want to be accepted.
And we came to you years ago with our 2 year old twins at the time and asked if you could make a simple pizza for the kids and you said no. The menu is the menu. Respect.
But again heres the thing. You have names near you and plg cafe which are both extremely kid friendly. And the kicker - you are next to Brix Haus which is a kid-friendly ice cream shop with giant kid drawings.
You have your outdoor seating right next to theirs.
So I think theres an assumption for parents that you have the same vibe and style as Brix Haus - that maybe the smaller ice cream shop is part of your deal which again has a kid style punch card - fun flavors and bright pastel colors.
Anyway all I am saying is this is your audience mixed w the growing younger non family population. Also the Caribbean crowd. But more and more families are moving here cause they are mostly single family homes near you.
If you donât like this, well there are lots of great non family neighborhoods like sunset park, gowanas, red hook, bushwick and crown heights. but who wants to move? instead lets find peace. I get it. Moving your place will be a challenge.
but lets break bread i mean pizza. no more signs that are passive aggressive.
This review ill take away once we reach a peace agreement.

i did enjoy the foods and wines here, but was really turned off by the ownerâs (i assume, since he was the only one working when we came in) unnecessarily hostile attitude.
To be fair, the restaurant was busy and he was the only one working, and he was really trying to juggled all the tasks of 3 people, which do feel for him and have to give him credit for.
That said, the attitude was so unwelcoming and aggressive. To be specific:
- we came in and waited at the door as he was at the counter making pizzas and drinks. I made eye contact and made sign that we wanted a table for 2 (it was our first time, we did not realize there was no host). He looked stressed, i can see he is busy, so we waited.
- After a few minutes, he cleaned a table near the bathroom and told us that the table was ready. I noticed another empty table near the window and asked if we can sit there, and he looked pissed and said âThat table is not ready. I have to clean itâ and then just went back to the counter / kitchen. I was confused but I said we can wait. He asked us to go outside, again in a very hostile manner, although there are plenty of seats of the bar. I was confused again.
- We stood there confused for a few mins until he said we can wait at the counter if we want, still with an unnecessarily aggressive attitude, and then there is someone still sitting at the table. Only then I found out that the person who sits there was in the bathroom getting ready to leave, as she walked out. Does it hurt to explain politely?
- The rest of our encounter was not much more pleasant for my friend. So bad that he went home, wrote a review, and immediately received a spicy response from owner.
This is truly the last draw for me. Looking at all the negative reviews talking about the same issue and all of his aggressive responses, turned out it was not just a bad day for him, but is his negative attitude generally. Putting aside the he said she said part where he clearly twisted a few details to make it looks like we were being unreasonable the whole time, the fact that he responded with âyou get the service you deserveâ is both unnecessary and evident of his aggression, staying true to what we experienced in person.
it is not the customersâ fault that you are running the place all by yourself and stressed by it. It is your job to plan your operations, and the customerâs right to be treated with decency and respect. We came in for both the food AND the experience and do our part to be respectful, we should not be treated as we asking for a favor that we donât deserve.
If you hate people that much, why decided to be in the business of providing services to people and inviting them to your space? Why built a restaurant (one with a decent menu, again) where people expect to have a good time, to then let your negativity ruin it for them?

I wanted to like it - the setting was nice, the music was good, nice wine list. However, the food was a bit disappointing - the Legalized Greens pizza was really salty. Maybe itâs a one-off. Service was lacking as well, the owner was very busy doing everything himself, he looked grumpy the whole time we were there, even did a bit of eye rolling when I took some time to decide.
*** More after the ownerâs response with a lack of honesty and after seeing many other reviews on his lack of courtesy:
- When we came in, there was an empty table by the window. He said it needed to be cleaned up, so we sat by the counter to wait. Again, there were no people sitting there. We didnât bother anyone. He made it up.
- I needed to get a water bottle from the counter myself. Poured the drinks myself. I didnât mind it. He is really delusional about his nonexistent hospitality.
- I ordered the wine by its name. He confirmed it by the region. I was confused so I asked to confirm again. I must have hurt the manâs ego by doing that.
- He poured some wines on the counter. I was hesitant to taste as I wasnât sure they were for my order. I did not forget to taste it.
- He himself confirmed that he was busy emptying the dishwasher when I asked if I could order. I waited for him to turn around to take the order as he was facing the dishwasher/still cleaning or something. He was obviously not ready to take the order, but then rudely said âhey I just asked you a question, why didnât you answerâ. Then he did the eye rolling.
To the owner: your response just shows how much of a contemptible kind of owner you are. Maybe, like two other reviews here said, your place is just the best place to pee in the city. Heck, I have seen more courtesy at NYC parks public restrooms.

Gorgeous pan pizza, crust is spongey with a nice crisp edge (in the best way), good selection of wine, outdoor seating is charming, indoor ambience is also very sweet. Would definitely recommend!

It is hit or miss to go there and to be opened. No business hours are posted either.
Delicious pizza and a really cool assortment of wines. You order at the bar and everything is brought over to your table. The vibes inside are cool with the dim lights and great playlist, on top of the food being worth it alone. Will 100% be back!!
