Low-key key bar perfect for two people but instead I sat at the bar alone and chatted with the bartender who was super friendly. I got two drinks here.

I recently had the pleasure of attending an engagement party at Gruit Restaurant in Crown Heights, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of spectacular. Now, let's talk about the star of the show—the food. Gruit Restaurant takes the concept of a culinary journey to a whole new level. The menu is a meat lover's paradise, offering an array of delicacies that range from pastrami burgers to veal pizza. The variety of options was truly impressive, catering to every palate in the room. The pastrami burgers were a revelation—juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Each bite was a symphony of tastes and textures that left me craving more. The veal pizza was another standout dish, showcasing the chef's mastery in combining unique flavors to create a pizza that was both indulgent and sophisticated. The attention to quality and freshness in the ingredients was apparent in every dish. It's evident that the chefs at Gruit Restaurant take pride in sourcing the finest ingredients to craft dishes that not only satisfy the taste buds but also leave a lasting impression.Although, I did not have a traditional sit down experience I will definitely come back to do so soon!

I came this summer, everything was perfect ! The service was impeccable, we were served by Felix, he was very patient and took care of us as if we were the only ones in the restaurant, i wanted to order a cocktail which was not exactly on the menu, and he took the time for it, and it came out perfect ! Great food, all delicious, and great atmosphere !If you're willing to pay for a culinary experience you won't regret, i would definitely recommend you this place !

If you are looking for a place with great food, do not look any further. However, their waiters system is a bit slow and food can take a bit long to get ready. But I would still go back. Great place overall.

Best burger i've had by far, the Poppers were my favorite item on the menu. Highly recommend trying them out. A bit pricey, but you get the value you are paying for.

Prices on the menu were, on average, ~$5 higher than on the website — apps average nearly $25(!), and a pretzel alone will set you back $17. Entrees are equally suspect at $30+ per burger and $65 for a simple veal chop. For casual fare, the prices simply don’t add up. There’s an automatic 18% gratuity applied to all orders, so expect an average meal for 2 to easily top $100At least 4 out of 6 wines on the menu provided at the restaurant itself were unavailable. Many other items on the website menu were not available in person (for example, only 2 out of 5 sides on the web menu made it to the actual menu, and the chicken and duck were missing)The food we did order was fairly mediocre — flavorful, but the dumpling and wonton wrappers were thick and indelicate and the fillings relatively stingy. Overall, very disappointing for a restaurant with a promising menu

Very expensive, understandable on the meat side as this is Jewish cuisine so assuming it all top quality kosher meat. Pastrami burger was $36 ; can od Schweppes seltzer $3. Staff was accomodating but also loud and chattering lots when not servicing. They were having fun, singing- it was a bit distracting for me.

Went here with a couple of friends for my birthday and I can honestly say I've never had such an all around great experience in a restaurant. The service was friendly, patient, quick, and very helpful. The menu is perfectly sized, with plenty of unique appetizers and some terrific entrees. We had the chicken poppers, veal/pastrami focaccia, both of which were phenomenal, but the real star of the show was the ridiculously mouthwatering tenderized sliced ribeye — easily the best steak I've had in a while. They also have a full bar with excellent cocktails, and don't forget dessert - be sure to try the peanut butter mousse & brownies - just insane. Did I mention the prices are quite reasonable for NYC? 10/10 will def visit again!

This place adds an 18% service fee onto all bills. Bake it into menu prices instead and pay your staff! Don’t pass it onto the consumer. Bad business practices like this should be shunnedEdit in response to owner: no, this is NOT how all restaurants or food businesses operate. They don’t charge an extra 18% service charge to the consumer. Build it into your pricing if you’re going to do this. Don’t add it as a line item. Let the CONSUMER choose how much they want to tip.
