Guacuco is a gem in Bed Stuy with delicious food based on sweet corn. The portions are a bit small for the price, but the tasty dishes make up for it. The ambiance is cheerful, and the staff is welcoming and energetic. The vegetarian empanada is fabulous, and the rum punch is amazing. The Pabellon Criollo is good, though some find the flavor a little too sweet. The shredded beef is so flavorful, and the arepas are steaming hot, moist, and have a bit of a crunch. The empanadas are worth every second of waiting—stuffed full of well-seasoned shredded beef, creamy black beans, salty cheese, and balanced with sweet plantains. The magical green sauce is so good too. The place gives off a very friendly neighborhood favorite vibe, with Latin music blasting and joyful laughter filling the room. It’s a great spot for a quick lunch, brunch, or a special date night. Definitely worth a visit whenever you're in the neighborhood or even worth making a trip specifically to dine here.
