My husband and I were visiting the area to decompress after a long week of work. Having visited Brighton Beach a few times before, I had heard great things about Guest House and decided that we would try this restaurant for dinner.

While the restaurant appeared “fancy” or inviting upon arrival, we were treated disrespectfully by the waitress, Ekaterina. I have had Georgian cuisine before, however my husband has not. When he mentioned this to her, there was an immediate change in attitude and service. For example, we asked if there was tap water available, to which she said there wasn’t any (which how is this even possible…). However, without context, she additionally noted that she had to set up the other tables and that we weren’t the only table she had to serve. This immediately made me want to leave but we had already ordered the food.

Once the food arrived, Ekaterina never checked on our table. However, we did notice that she was attending to the other tables more regularly. Mind you, my husband and I are not Eastern European nor look European or white, and we felt that this could have been a case of discrimination as the other tables were of the usual Brighton Beach demographic. While eating, there was also a cockroach crawling near our table to which I lost my appetite even more and questioned the cleanliness of this restaurant.

Waiting for the check took ages as the waitress never came to our table at all. Eventually my husband had to get up from his seat to ask. Not only was the service terrible, but there was an added gratuity of 18% and it was just the two of us eating. If we were a bigger party, I would have understood…but gratuity for two people is asking for too much.

In conclusion, if you are looking for fine dining or are interested in the Georgian cuisine, this is the first place I would tell people to NOT go to. There are plenty of restaurants in the area with the same menu that you can find that I’m sure would give a more pleasant experience than this one.

An exquisite dining venue that looks like it could be for weddings and parties. The food is fantastic, the kebabs were moist and well seasoned, soup dumplings were filled with juicy meat and made to order, but more doughy than regular ones, also loved the few appetizers we got—the Georgian bread was hot and stuffed with cheese, the eggplant with walnut is divine and their lobio (bean stew) is very hearty and flavorful.

We were the only one in the restaurant on a holiday, so service was very attentive, however the kitchen was slow. It took over an hour and a half to get all our food and more than half their menu wasn’t available unfortunately, they said their chef was out. Would recommend calling ahead and seeing if their full menu is being accommodated. Their online menu is not accurate. Overall it was a nice post-beach bite, but would definitely ask ahead to ensure a positive experience.

Vegetarian options: Not many vegetarian options, maybe four. Mostly salad, cheese bread and appetizers.

Food and service is amazing- the trout in pomegranate sauce is delightful. We even came late and they let us stay past closing to finish our meal.

Dinner with friends and Georgian food and wine. Not many customers, music was not loud so we could talk. Georgian wine (Saperavy) was surprisingly good.

If I could put 0 stars, I’ll do it)) the food is awful. Especially lamb. It was so dry and overcooked and they charge $22 for 5 pcs Service is so ghetto… and they charge you for tips automatically Do not recommend this place

The food here is SOO good. feel like I had such an authentic Georgian experience and the service was amazing. Even on a Sunday night, there was live music, dancing and everyone was so friendly and inviting. The atmosphere here is so warm and the decor is beautiful. If you are in the neighborhood, you must stop here!!
