Sent me tostadas without avocado, not sure how they could have forgotten the most important part of the dish

Used to love going to Guevara’s for a fully vegan pastry and coffee experience, but the menu is no longer fully vegan, as they have included cow’s milk as a milk option and even have some drinks that can only be prepared as non-vegan.

My hubby and I were looking for something vegan to eat late night and came upon this spot. Guevara's is in the heart of Williamsburgs Southside, which has definitely come a long way. The place is super cute, and the vibe is super chill! The staff and owner are very friendly and it's easy to see why this place is so popular. Atmosphere, location and service were top notch, but the vegan food sad to say, not so good! The cauliflower wings and chili cheese baked potato looked like slop. The Tortas melanesa was kind of all over the place, stacked very high, and was very messy. The flavors were overpowering and all over the place. I would rethink the menu. Sorry to say, the food was not worth the price!

My NYC bestie and me came here in June 2021. We both needed to relax and catch up. We had a fantastic outing for breakfast. I still recall eating a bagel with crème fresh and fresh smoked lox….faux lox to be exact because this is a vegan place! You would never know it was faux. Anyway, I believe my friend had a sunrise sandwich of sorts like with vegan eggs and the works. Overall, we loved our girly vegan brunch. We may have even endulged in an iced coffee or juice, but I’m not sure. We like to be mindful with our spending. We took the subway all the way to this part of the city and then walked here on foot. It was amazing!! We look forward to reuniting again soon.

As others have said, the new combo with mekelburgs means they share space and even at the coffee shop they have dairy milk as an option (to be more inclusive, they said). The default is NOT dairy milk though, which is good. They also told me they only had cow milk whipped cream and non-vegan marshmallows. Another worked corrected the first guy and said they were actually vegan marshmallows but that was enough to turn me off. The pastries are all vegan still bc they’re made by a vegan baker. The cinnamon roll was SO GOOD. They do sell cows milk by the half gallon in the grocery area too 🤮 Updated from previous review on 2025-03-27

Great to have a lively spot with tons of vegan options! Loved the skinny fries. Wished there was a protein in the pozole but it tasted great. Service was awesome and trivia night a blast! Cool that it's Guevara's/mekelburgs combo experience.

Pastries and prepared food are delicious. Now that the original standalone Guevara’s is closed, I wanted to check out the Domino Park location again since it seemed like their food menu here expanded. When I arrived I was confused by the changes! The corner nook that was previously Guevara’s branded is still there and you can order to-go cafe drinks, packaged snacks, and pastries. To order the full prepared food menu, though, you head to the full Mekelburg’s diner in the back and order from the centralized menu that now combines all Guevara’s items with the regular omni-serving menu. Vegan Guevara’s items are highlighted with a pink box, but there are also additional vegan items on the menu indicated with a leaf icon. So, no more all-vegan menu! The staff at Mekelburg’s is friendly and informed about the vegan selections, and a bonus is that there’s ample seating. It also makes it a good option for dining with non vegans, especially if you’re looking for brunch or breakfast.

$10.70 for hot chocolate is unforgivable

Friendly staff. Nice atmosphere. The vegan cookie I had was ok. Unfortunately the coffee was undrinkable
