The space itself is great but the bartender serving the night I went made me feel extremely unwelcome, being outright hostile at times (short person with green hair). I would beware if you are a woman of color, and steer clear of interactions with this person given their blatant racism. Other than that, the music was awesome and the back-patio very nice!

Cool vibe and spot. Staff were friendly and helpful. Cool mother goose light and concoctions. Nice outdoor spot in the back.

I have been coming to happyfun for a few years now and my experience last night was one I felt I needed to document. Queer people and queer spaces need to do better to protect their own, especially POC. Last night there was a very intoxicated man at the bar, the bartenders served him although he was clearly way past his limit and also charged him twice for one drink. This already rubbed me the wrong way on behalf of the bartenders who I felt like were taking advantage of a weird situation. But, the man ended up joining my friends and I and immediately we were very concerned for his safety and wellbeing because he was completely incoherent, for about twenty mins we were trying to figure out what he took/whether he was alone/how he was going to get home safe. When it was clear that it was beyond our control, I told a bartender and they promptly kicked him out. This seemed wrong, lazy, and blatantly racist for so many reasons
1) he seemed to have been at the bar for a couple of hours, bartenders were serving him or at least charging him, so someone at the bar had allowed him to get to that point
2) when I told the bartenders they brushed me off and said that they know and that they’re kicking him out and they were sorry for him getting in my business. I frankly did not care that he was in my business, I was concerned for his wellbeing. I would expect the owners of the queer establishment to also care about that, but there was NO intervention or care present in that interaction
3) it was not lost to me that he was black and the three bartenders working last night were white, dismissive, and a little mean.

I have always found happyfun to feel like a safe space for queer POC but I feel very disturbed by this attitude towards patrons who clearly needed help. There needs to be a community approach towards supporting patrons…it’s a bar with a dance floor in bushwick…people are going to be dancing, people are doing to be doing drugs. Ensuring safety should be a number 1 priority. Im sad to say that I won’t be coming back.

Your bartender last night (large male) was awfully rude and unwelcoming. Quite distasteful, that the main point of service at your establishment would have such a nasty attitude. Simple questions that were asked, did not warrant condescending and belittling responses. Hire someone else. Yuck

Going to HappyFun can be like stepping into a realm of fascinating people who move through space unencumbered by the norm. The space has been like an ethereal waystation between the events for me.

- Great music, I've heard everything from 90's RnB to techno.
- Great conversation, the bartenders are lovely and helpful. They seem to know everyone and make you feel welcome
- great atmosphere, lounge, bar seats, tables, and a patio give you a good mix of modalities to enjoy.
- great drinks and good prices, I have gone a few times thinking I'll have a single drink and then it turns into more during happy hour

A great place to find the intersectionality of our community.

I went to this place for the first time, one of the bartenders was rude I used my credit card to pay, the bartender already registered my card in the system, but then my friend told me to better use cash, when I told the bartender I wanted to pay cash, he became upset, gave me an attituded. I only had one drink at this place while my friend had 2 or 3 drinks. Another customer offer me a free drink which was very nice of her to do this to me. the rest of the night was good. Today Sunday 02/10/2025 I am finding out that the same credit card that was used at this bar has a fraudulent transaction done in the Dominican Republic in a rental car called TARGET CAR RENTAL BOCA CHICA for $ 646.55 I am very upset with this fraudulent transaction since I never left this country especially on that night that I came to NY for a weekend driving from home. This is crazy and the only person upset with me was this bartender.

I have never met ruder bartenders in my life. My girlfriend and I went and there were few people at the bar but my girlfriend was completely ignored while she patiently and respectfully waited. I came over and flagged over the bartender who clearly was not going to serve my girlfriend for whatever reason (?) - the bartender came over and she did not speak to us a single time: did not ask what we wanted, did not utter a SINGLE word. We said please, thank you, etc, and felt extremely confused, uncomfortable, and honestly sad. Because of how rude the bartender was, we did not leave a tip, specifically because she was nice to every other person we went with so it felt very targeted. Afterwards, we tried to order another drink and she ignored us - she actually walked over to us, said “hi,” in a sarcastic tone and walked away - her coworker told us it was because we didn’t tip her. I have always, ALWAYS tipped as someone who worked in the service industry, but I’ve never experienced someone so indredibly cold and rude to the point where it ruined the rest of our night.
