Just spent New Year’s dinner at Insa. Was fully aware that there was a 90 min time limit for the table. We were terribly rushed. Reservation was for 5:45 and was literally pushed out the door at 6:55. Insa you owe me 20 min.

It’s not an authentic Korean food. All the food tastes like Korean imitation!!

Atmosphere and service were good.
If you are craving authentic/good Korean food make the trek elsewhere.
Galbi was under seasoned, not tender, and expensive for what it was.
Side dishes were underwhelming.
Rice was hard and cold.
They gave romaine lettuce instead of Korean lettuce. On top of that the lettuce we got was almost rotten (as pictured)
Only redeeming dish was the Japchae.
The drinks were not great as well.
Overall based on 2 visits to this restaurant we will not be returning.
Would only recommend coming for atmosphere in the bar area and maybe some of the bar snacks.

Family rented a room here for karaoke. The staff were so lovely and professional. Excited to go back to try the food.
Great Karaoke rooms and Korean food and drinks.
Change your hours to reflect that you don’t serve food until 2am.
Sorely disappointed. Couldn't even experience it.
Took an Uber across Brooklyn with a family member with walking disability, walk in the door, and they've closed the kitchen a full hour (or more?) early.
Now we've got to find food within short walking distance and open later in the evening? Or, take another Uber somewhere else?
From one Korean to a Korean restaurant, this review is the only insa we can do.
Follow-up #1:
Thank you, Insa, genuinely for the reply here and following up otherwise. I appreciate being filled in on the explanation. I understand the difficulties presented by such situations leading to difficult decisions. I look forward to joining you soon.
Very cute vibe and great service. Doesn’t taste like Korean food… 순두부 (soondobu) is basically spicy water with no stock or depth, all the 반찬 banchan is not balanced with something overpowering all the tastes, the rice is super dense, and I could go on. Disappointing because I’m always trying to try local Korean spots and get a taste of home in BK and there are quite a few good spots!
If you just want beer snacks, meat, karaoke, and drinks it’s definitely a vibe. Don’t come for the food but come to hang out.
P.S. they don’t have Korean songs at their karaoke rooms which is CRAZY to me. ? maybe the restaurant name should be 못사

delish! not a diy korean bbq like we were expecting, but still a fun experience. the shishito peppers were incredible
Favorite Korean BBQ in NYC, amazing food, service, and vibe, & nothing better than post-meal karaoke. Don't sleep on the soft-serve for dessert.

Restaurantji Recommends
We had such a great meal at Insa! Really delicious and fast. The space felt very cozy, will be perfect for winter too. Tables are large so it was a bit spacious for just two and the BBQ grill, but would be super fun in a group. Good prices for the portions, and the food was filling but felt healthy. We went on a weeknight and got a super cheap bottle of wine with their deal. Nice vegan and gluten free options, my GF friend felt very comfortable eating there.

this was a fun spot for dinner, and I imagine a good pick for karaoke, but I wouldn't go back just for the food. it wasn't an authentic korean barbeque experience. some of the more fusion dishes like the fried mushrooms and the corn cheese croquettes were enjoyable, but the more traditional items were not up to par. I would recommend going anywhere in k town instead for korean bbq. but if you want a very americanized korean bbq experience, this might be for you.

went with 16 people for a birthday, was served like 6 people’s worth of food and it was all terrible - would not recommend for big groups - karaoke was fun

Don’t go here. Unless just for karaoke. As a Korean, this place is a disgrace. No flavor, not authentic at all. It’s like your white auntie in Alabama tried to make galbi.
