Waitress had bad attitude. There were brown specks in my ice and I didn’t notice until midway. I tried to explain it to her as she stood and laughed as I tried to pick out the ice. It was half melted by the time I tried to show her but I had to just go because the snarky laughter was too much and I just wanted to de-escalate.
Sadly this place is a total ripoff on take out. For $28 you should get a filling Jerk Chicken meal. Not here. 5 measly pieces of chicken and the leg is the biggest piece. There is much more affordable and bigger-portioned Caribbean food all throughout Brooklyn. Be advised.

phenomenal jerk box (jerk chicken); drinks are good too. Service a little slow, I think because of the bake and shark a member of my party ordered, that my order was held hostage but taste of that jerk chicken was redemption, absolutely superb!!!!

Kudos to LaToya and the Island Shack team. Housed in the old Smoke Joint location, Island Shack has filled a void in the Fort Greene community. The menu is authentic Trinidadian/Caribbean cuisine and the doubles for lunch is a major hit!!!!
If you work downtown, try their affordable lunch specials. If you're looking for a neighborhood bar where everyone knows your name, pull up and make yourself at home. Every Sunday there is a live DJ party that ends when folks have folks get tired from dancing! This spot hits on every criteria- food, drinks, vibes!
Go and tell them Jay sent you!

Island Vibes at Island Shack
When my beloved Smoke Joint closed before the pandemic I was hoping it would be replaced with another quality restaurant. My prayers have been answered with Island Shack. Although the space is small the flavors are HUGE! If you are a fan of caribbean cuisine or feeling adventurous Island Shack is serving up authentic Trinidadian cuisine. The food is AMAZING! I had the garlic shrimp and wings as appetizers there were both well seasoned with a little heat and although I have grown up eating roti (think, a carribbean burrito) I never heard of a seafood roti so I definitely wanted to try it for my entree. The seafood roti consisted of a mixture of lobster, shrimp and salmon in a super flavorful curry sauce with chickpeas served with a side of potatoes and pumpkin. OMG it was perfection! And the portion was enough for me to take home leftovers. The meal was 10 out of 10! Also Sunday evenings there is a dj adding to the ambience. I will definitely be back!

Not worth the money! Oxtail too expensive just for 4 half cold oxtail. Then the vegetables that was on the plate was nasty and damn near uncooked. I would of been better of eating at the food court or the outside vendors
Loved everything!
