I’ve traveled to this restaurant a few times only to be greeted with the normalized, “The kitchen is closed’ although their site indicates otherwise. I understand that things can happen beyond the establishment’s control, however, maybe they should update their site in real-time so customers can plan accordingly. I will admit, the food is delicious BUT, the inconsistent hours of operation is a huge turnoff. Do better!

Great service and atmosphere was vibrant but the food was very mid and over price . We ordered rice and stew chicken but the chicken has only bone . And we also ordered curry chicken and rice but it doesn’t taste like curry and and I requested for extra curry but came out like watery soup , the callaloo came out looking like soup but was good

I went here this Tuesday at 4:15 pm and the door was locked. There was a lady inside talking on the phone looking at me like I was bothering her. She eventually unlocked the door. I asked her what time she’d be open and her response was “I don’t know I’m setting up now.” If she doesn’t know how long it takes to set up, why does the business hours indicate they are open from 2 pm on Tuesdays? Furthermore, I commuted to Brooklyn because I was craving Trinidadian food and this was the response I got. No apologies, no indication about when things would be ready, etc. Save your time if you’re commuting from far. I hope the food smells and tastes better than her stank attitude. Her attitude reflects poorly on this business.

Food taste good but the portions are a bit unaligned. For the rotis I ordered there was more potato than there was chicken, chic peas and barely any sauce. For the price, not at all impressed.

I was extremely disappointed with my experience here. The food did not taste fresh at all, it lacked flavor, and the texture suggested it had been sitting out for quite some time rather than being prepared to order.
What made the experience even worse was the service. The owner was not just unfriendly but outright rude when I politely raised my concerns about the meal. Rather than addressing the issue or offering a solution, they responded with a dismissive and defensive attitude that made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome.
Dining out should be an enjoyable experience, but between the subpar food and the poor treatment, I left feeling frustrated and unsatisfied. I will not be returning and cannot recommend this place to others.

Absolutely my favorite restaurant in Fabulous Ft. Greene BK ! The Square’s open area out front and super cozy atmosphere inside gives you a beautiful island vibe and everyone’s friendly. The music and guests DJ’s had me dancing after my amazing dinner! Everything on the menu is excellent and I kept going back to Island Shack for more. LaToya is so bubbly and beautiful and makes you feel like you’re home with family eating her amazing food! The drinks are delicious and the bar area is full of excitement any day of the week!! Cheers to everyone !!
