Ix brings Guatemalan flavors to NY. The chef does a great job on the stew dishes that have great flavor. I had the pepian stew and the shrimp sliders. Both were delicious.
The place is a little small. But you can often see artists perform here in weekend nights.

There’s very little the champurrado can’t fix, and the melted cheese with tortillas and jalapeño is insanely delicious and unfortunately worth every penny.

I never write bad reviews but the soup here (caldo ix) was atrocious and i don’t understand how any chef could serve it. the chicken was so dry and old that i couldn’t chew it. i wouldn’t give it to my cat. the corn on the cob was total mush- a texture i’ve never encountered before- even the potatoes tasted bad with poor texture, which is pretty hard to do in a soup. the broth had no flavor. no depth- it was all just totally gross. i was really hungry and still couldn’t eat it. It tasted like something you’d get in prison. I don’t get what the great reviews are about but it definitely can’t be the soup. it’s really frustrating to pay $20 for a dish with such poor ingredients and prepared without any love or quality. i hope the chef will see this and make improvements. If you have a restaurant it is necessary to serve good food otherwise what are you doing? please put some care into what you are offering.

I recently had brunch at Ix Restaurant, and it was such a great experience. The Guatemalan-inspired dishes were bursting with flavor—I especially loved the pepian and the fresh house-made tortillas. The staff were really friendly and welcoming from the start. They surprised us with a generous plate of nachos to start — a lovely unexpected bonus. Portions were big, prices very reasonable, and the terrace was a pleasant spot to enjoy our meal.
We’d never tried Guatemalan food before, but it quickly became a favourite. Tasty, satisfying, and honestly, we left completely full without breaking the bank. Highly recommended if you want something new and delicious.
