If you’re going to say you’re open until 6, please actually be open until 6. Is the third time I’ve stopped by 10-15 minutes before closing, only to find the place locked up.
The coffee is fine, not great, but the guy who was working here is such a bummer I probably won’t be back. This is the first time I’ve ever been inspired to write a negative review. Who hurt you dude? Variety is right across the street—I was hoping to prefer Java because Variety gets enough business. Unfortunately the barista made me uncomfortable as soon as I walked in. Not asking for much, just a tiny bit of friendliness.

Coffee nothing special. Service mediocre. Not friendly or helpful. Variety coffee much better in all respects.

Found a dried-up, used band-aid in a bag of their loose leaf white tea ("Rosie's Teas" - says on the bag that it's distributed exclusively by Java Joe's). When I called to let them know, the person on the line said that he's never heard that before, that things can sometimes get in the bags and was very dismissive of the complaint.

Best beans in Brooklyn. Expert staff. Anyone rating Java Joes less than 5 stars is — and I say this respectfully — completely nuts.

Great coffee selection, worst customer service. The guy who works here is miserable. Love the older woman who runs the store.

The place to go in Brooklyn for quality Brit tea and Cadbury’s. Great aroma, friendly and fun all round.

Fantastic smell and wonderful staff. Oh my the selection! Delicious imported treats, and my favorite chai in the city.
