When I was a kid, I went to school a couple blocks away from this place and would come here with my mom. I have been eating here since the 4th grade. Almost everytime we came, they would turn on the most amazing Bollywood videos on at my request which has contributed to my love for Bollywood and Indian art, cuisine and culture. I will never ever forget this place, as they are the only restaurant I know that makes the best Shrimp Tikka Masala, with THE best Naan and THE BEST chutney on the planet. I will definitely be visiting you guys again soon and I wish I could put you in my pocket and bring you everywhere with me specifically to have on-demand Shrimp Tikka Masala.
I order from this place a fair amount because it’s close by and it’s the only Indian place in the area. Certain things will hit the spot if you are really craving Indian, and I recommend sticking to those things. Naan, Chana saag, samosas, papadam, chicken curry—the basics—are all okay. Like others have said, their biryani is bad. Flavorless, oily, and if you get the salmon, it honestly didn’t taste or look like salmon at all to me.
The other thing about ordering from here is the wait time, I’m assuming it’s because it’s the only Indian place in the area, not because the food is extraordinary. I live four blocks away and it will still take an hour for the food to be ready for pickup or delivery.
If you order delivery, don’t get your hopes up. They “forget” something almost every time I order, from something as small as the chutneys or drink, to an entire appetizer.
On top of that, the prices are high for the quality, compared to other places like Joy Indian in prospect heights.
Unfortunately I think because they’re the only ones in the area and they have high delivery orders, they just sacrifice on quality and service, which is a shame.
A friend recommended King of Tandoor, and I was a tad doubtful it would hit my spice preference. It’s a cozy, ‘typical’ NYC Indian spot, and while I was right about the spice level for the chicken vindaloo, my friend was right to recommend this place. I don’t read menus at Indian spots. I just order Chicken Vindaloo spicy and if I’m hungry, I get samosas and garlic naan. I got it all today. And when I asked the waiter about the spice level, he told me it wouldn’t be spicy enough. I asked if he could give me something to make it spicier like green chilies and he just smiled and said, “I got you”. Wow did he. He brought out a jar of his personal favorite spicy sauce (Mr. Naga - I’m buying this as soon as I can!) and some green chilies. The spice level was absolutely perfect (which would probably be way more heat than most people enjoy). The waiter was so kind and helpful. He turned my experience into a great moment. Would highly recommend. And talk to your waiter! Ask questions. You’ll be happy you did.
I’m from India and this place is pretty darn good!
Food is delicious
More of a takeout restaurant. Slow service. Not exceptionally informative or kind. Multiple people stormed out while we were there because they were waiting 1 hour+ for food.
I would not recommend eating here unless the owners in the storefront.
I’ve given this place multiple tries and they fail over and over again.
When you walk in, they act like you’re a problem for them even though you’re a paying customer trying to order a meal.
Their chicken tikka masala comes with this kind of red sauce that is not the warm orange glow you’re looking for and it will make you sick.
I would not recommend eating here unless you are starving or desperate and if you are Either one of those things you can walk a little farther and find something else in the neighborhood.
I love this restaurant. It feels like from a different time. And the food is great. Their garlic naan is soooo garlicky ❤️ Also, call in your order and pick it up for a bit of a discount. Avoid the apps so they get more of what they're due.
Best authentic Indian food around, by far!

Their food is so good. Our go-to order for years has been their lamb korma and saag paneer with samosa and banana pakora—never disappoints! And recently I tried the shrimp saag—the shrimp was huge and super tasty. Also love the garlic naan. They are a little bit pricier than other places but the flavor is worth it.
