I ordered shrimp and broccoli and it was horrible the shrimp was over cook mushy very disappointing very surprised very bad got me sick I tried them for a second time and again played it safe and ordered shrimp fried rice horrible I was lucky if 6 shrimps was in my rice not a good choice when Chinatown is 15 minutes away be safe and travel and enjoy
Kum Kau has prevailed since the pandemic with excellent Chinese food. They once had seated dining but now its takeout only.
Sometimes food is good, it's not like before. It's a hit and miss. I still go but not as often
Still as good as the old days. Prices were super reasonable for the food and specials considering the area.
Food is decent but cash only in a society that uses tap to pay is wild. But they have a conveniently placed ATM with a $2 fee
Great food

Love that some regular food like General Tso's is not too oily and sweet

Chicken wing were good. Rice was ok.
Beef and broccoli was HORRIBLE. How you burn the beef and try to cover it with the sauce that was dry. NEVER AGAIN AND WILL NOT RECOMMEND! DISGUSTING.

I have gone there for 30 years. So happy that after not going there for 5 years they still kept my vegetarian chicken on the menu.

Kum Kau was our go-to for great Chinese food when at Pratt Institute. I know it's changed owners and location on Myrtle Avenue a few times, but was pleased to see my favorite appetizer, roast pork bun, is still on the menu. They're still big and incredibly tasty.. but there wasn't as much meat in them as back in the day (late '90s). Got 3 buns for $9.
The current location is much smaller. It was busy so I guess the rest of the menu is still good, too. No seating inside or outside to eat, but has a long bench inside for people waiting for orders. Has a health department inspection sign with an A rating in the front window.
Just disappointed that in 2024, I still had to pay with cash (they have a small ATM inside).
Wheelchair accessibility: There's a square-ish structure with a spring door attached to the outside that you have to go through to get inside. No automatic door opener, and it is likely a tight fit to turn a chair once inside that outer structure.

Kum Kau used to be the best chiense restaurant in brooklyn but now the food is below average and extremely high priced to have no taste . Please save your money your local Chinese closest to you is better than this place . Shrimp and broccoli is $12 dollar and gravy is watery
Miss the dinning room, but the quality is still top. Thanks for the great food. I was hoping to sit down once again, at the same spot where I met Iron Mike Tyson. So glad you guys are still there! Thank you!
