Food is incredible good, fresh and decent prices, just a counter and couple of barstools, mainly for take out, a couple of homeless people around, shady area, parking is difficult including paid parking.

This spot has all the vibes of what this neighborhood used to be when bustling with small local shops, Latin food and that loud nyc street wonderfulness. Still has the same cuchifrito vibes as we remember from back in the day.
I usually eat in or take out but always met with friendliness and helpful lovely women that remember your last visit and ask how the family is. They have platter deals and small take away items like alcapurrias. We usually get rice, beans and pernil, or the chicken. But I do like their steak and onions though that is cooked to order.
The down sides are no bathroom, and no AC, so the summer feels like an over in there.

It.takes me back to the cuchifritos of my childhood in the Bronx. Food is consistently good and the service is fast.

Hands down THE WORST pasteles I have tasted in my 40+ years on this planet. Choked them down because I didn’t wanna waste my money.
If you want good pasteles try Los Primos on Grand street. The waitresses are very rude and nasty, they’ll talk shit in your face thinking you don’t speak Spanish but at least the food is edible.
Authentic, Affordable & Delicious

I ordered 2 combos of yellow rice with beans pernil , 2 alcapurrias, 2 plátano relleno and 2 rellenos de papa. I got white rice, no beans, 2 pastelillos instead of the plátano and the slcapurrias and rellenos were not edible. All the frituras were rock hard. I always order from Knickerbocker but didn’t realize the location was off and ended up with that disaster.
