I went to Lamonte on a Sunday afternoon to grab a quick drink and do some work on my phone as most coffee shops in the area were closing. When I arrived I told the host/server that I would need an outlet since I was low on power. There were two tables open next to a plug that I was told were "reserved" at the time that I was there, however no one showed up in the hour and a half that I sat. I’m a regular customer as I work nearby and come every few weeks or so, but I will not be returning. The bar was relatively empty and could accommodate large to small parties regardless of where I sat down, however I was not accommodated in the slightest. I’m a black woman who sat by herself and heard the staff talking about me and regarding me in hushed tones. Overall a super rude and unpleasant experience.

Honestly I’m just disappointed about the “no kids after 5” policy. Would have loved to try & I’m sure the food is solid- but it’s a dumb policy imo.

I love LaMonte! I think the atmosphere is amazing and it’s a great vibe for a first date or to bring a friend who’s in town visiting. Conveniently off the L I love going here after work. In the summer the back is a great place to spend time with friends. Fries are good. Oysters are probably good (I don’t like sea food) and the negroni is so tasty. Normally staff is wonderful. Last time I went on a Monday night a server did act very inconvenienced by my presence. That was not my favorite. Major hater vibes. I will still be returning but hopefully that guy chills out.

The food was amazing but the staff are incredibly rude and ruined the entire experience. During my meal I got up to use the restroom and a staff member went OUT OF THEIR WAY to block me from entering. They then started to accuse me of not being a paying customer and started quizzing me to see whether I was. Afterward, they did not apologize and instead just said “I didn’t see you” and then ended the conversation.
Later on, my meal had ended and the waiter took the plates away. We then sat there akwardly because they failed to ever bring my table a check.
Getting the check was also a difficult experience. I had to wade through crowds of people because the bar was so crowded and directly in the middle of all the tables. This made it incredibly difficult for me to get the waiters attention.

I’ve dined here a few times and it’s convenient because it’s open late but this place is always a miss for my boyfriend and I, service is always lacking and the food is okay. We gave it a final try on 1/12 in hopes that it would be a better experience and everything seemed to be going well but that’s until I saw a roach on my boyfriend’s back! It happened towards the end of our meal and I notified the server. A few things were comped and he did offer drinks and dessert on the house but at this point I felt disgusted.

We were on time and they told us we were late. Food was alright. They asked if we wanted more drinks then five minutes later told us we need to go. Two minutes after paying they told us we needed to leave. Service was aggressively bad. Tried to go back to use the restroom and got bounced. Frustrating.

Hey! Girlfriend here who got sick from your oysters, yeah we took silly pics because we were drunk (your cocktails were great) but I did get DIARRHEA for like 2 DAYS because those oysters were def undercooked. This isn’t defamation, if you really rolled the tapes then I’m sure you saw the countless times I had to go puke in your cute bathroom.

My girlfriend started throwing up after eating the oysters also kind of upset they charged me 2 extra dollars for my seltzer in my tequila seltzer.
Met my wife at the restaurant, greeted her then headed toward the bathroom, immediately stopped by the bartender who stood in front of me and told me “the bathroom is customers only”. Which I replied that my wife was already here and she is seated and why was I not allowed to use the restroom? Profiling still exists in 2024, apparently. Won’t be coming back here.

So, Oysters here are Delish!!! We ordered the steaks. The ribeye was the strangest ribeye I have ever had. It was flat and wide. If you like that sort of cut, you will like it. If you are used to traditional thick cut ribeyes then beware, this will not be that. The NY strip seemed like a nicer cut and is 30% cheaper. Maybe come here for the Pasta and Oysters.
