So I usually go to this restaurant and have a good dining experience but not so much this time! Me and my sister decided to grab dinner on a Tuesday night which is considerably a slow night because it was literally no one in the restaurant as we walked in the host greeted us letting us know that we would not be able to dine because my sister had on a hat! So I immediately ask to speak to management and when the manager came she acknowledged that she knew my face and that I was a regular customer. Then she proceeded to tell me they had a dress code that they fully enforced. Which is not on the website or any where to view in the restaurant!!! So they was just free styling basically saying it was for security purposes! as if my sister had on a ski mask!!!! So they lost 2 patron on a slow night because a woman had on a hat! I want to and love supporting black own but you guys make it really hard too! So we went up the block to Lilli restaurant and had an excellent dining experience and my sister didn’t have to remove her hat! Y’all have to do better it’s too much competition out here! And no one is going to beg to spend their money with an establishment. Make better choices. customer service goes a long way you shouldn’t just want people to come to your restaurant. you’re goal should be for people to keep coming back‼️

My reservation was for 8:45 Waited until 8:59 and 9:10 order was taken ..9:27 I got my appetizer...drinks came 9:38....got the the food at 9:57...drunken shrimp was cold.. I got sweet and sour chicken sauce on the chicken taste spoil ..and u gotta pay a fee for the strawberry that makes the drinks ?
My sister and I tried to have dinner but didn’t. Granted I was late to the reservation which made us miss the initial dining time (which is not in dispute because that’s on me) but was promised a seat within a definite timeframe and was forgotten while we waited at the bar. The bar staff were attentive and the drink we had was okay but didn’t appreciate being lied to by the floor manager that was present tonight. They unfortunately made a bad week worst and was really looking forward to trying here for the first time while I visited NY.
Update: I appreciate your response Shanice, accept your apology and fully understood appointment policy which wasn’t an issue. Just saying that it would have been better to be told initially that there were no guarantees and have us decide if we wanted to try elsewhere or waited with that expectation. However, the team overall were very apologetic and offered some possible solutions which was appreciated.

I've reached out to the manager/ owner several times ( at her request) with no response! I found hair in my food, the dinner was ok, I guess this was for image only that the owner reached out, but it's fine I've found someplace much better, classier etc. You wonder why these black-owned businesses never last!

I will never return to this restaurant again. It was a nice venue, and it’s a great place for pictures. My group and I were just one year younger than the legal age, and as soon as we stepped into the restaurant the lady in the front started laughing for no particular reason. She asked us for our age which was reasonable, but for the whole entire time she was in laughter to which I quite don’t understand. Once we got our food, we seen two men particularly waiters, just standing there staring at us and we felt uncomfortable within that time frame. The restaurant itself was good and so was the food, but some of the people working there are unacceptable, especially the lady in the front. I was trying to figure out what was funny the entire time because she couldn’t seem to stop laughing. Also, charging for sparkling water that my group and I didn’t even touch is outrageous.

Amazing service, beautiful team, and great vibes. From the moment you walk through the door of Le Chai, you feel welcome and then awed by its ambiance. We were seated immediately by our host, and moments later, a young lady named Lateefah stopped by to welcome us. Her smile was infectious. She said we were in for an amazing dinner, and that's exactly what we experienced. The drinks were perfectly made.... the food was delicious. It was as if the chef was cooking just for us. At the end of our dinner, Lateefah and her team approached us with a chocolate cake singing happy birthday. I usually have to mention this several times to restaurant staff but not that day. Lateefah and crew, thank you so much for an amazing experience. Le Chai will forever be the first restaurant I recommend to everyone I know. This Restaurant is well designed and the food was good. The customer service is terrible Manager needs to be fired she has zero concept of customer service let alone to have a title of a Manager. No accountability, problem solving skills and keeping the Guest happy. I watched her interact negatively with a customer left off the floor and was gone for 30min while the line was getting longer with a restaurant filled with empty tables.
