After looking forward to trying this spot for months based on the excellent reviews, my partner and I were turned away for ordering one instead of two plates of food. We were told by the owner “this isn’t fast food” and that it was “not worth it” for he and his wife to serve us a single plate, because (in an empty restaurant) we were taking up the space of two people but ordering one dish. I have lived in the neighborhood for years as well as dined around the world with some of the best and most respectable chefs and restauranteurs and have NEVER once felt compelled to write a bad review until now. I tried my best to speak to the owner and his wife to come to some sort of human understanding about why they refused service and despite explaining calmly that we had small appetites and simply wanted to share a dish in hopes of returning for more in the future, was only given the same explanation. We were simply not hungry enough to order more, and there was no disclaimer on the menu that every guest needed to order a single dish to obtain service. I unfortunately left having entirely lost my appetite which is the worst impression of a restaurant I can imagine. I am incredibly sad to say I will never return, nor recommend this “soul food” to another soul. There are better and far more hospitable ways to spend your money in Brooklyn.
Such a wonderful gem! Food was full of flavor and the ambiance was romantic but approachable. There was no rush to leave so you could spend the time to enjoy your company and the food.
I had dinner with a friend. We both had appetizers and an entree. Our purpose of visiting was to scope out the place to see if it would be a good place to host a brunch.I checked out the brunch menu and it looked good but needed to see the size of the place and try the food.I asked the owner about hosting brunch there but he didn’t speak or understand English well.Well as far as food goes, it was just okay. The bread on top of soup was a bit burnt. The fish cakes were too spicy. The salmon burger was a bit salty. The do not serve ketchup at all due to high sugar content. I tried to explain to owner that their menu is carb heavy and that turns to sugar in your body but the language barrier prevented him from understanding.
Came for dinner, food was wonderfully cooked, server was humble and warm.I had the Chebu Jen and my wife had the whole fish. I only wish they had a more varied and larger appetizer section taste authentic and home cooked comfort thank you
I have come here twice so far for brunch the first time and for dinner the second. This place is absolutely amazing. From the quaint decor, to the friendly waiter and chef, to the delicious food, it has become one of my favorite spots in Park Slope. If you enjoy a nice spicy and well seasoned appetizer, the Accra de morue is a must! And for brunch, I highly recommend swapping out the usual mimosa for the refreshing and delicious kir royal instead.
Had dinner here with a friend. Very cozy spot and the food was honestly phenomenal. Sparkling white wine was perfect for this muggy summer heat. We started with the Accras de More which reminded us of spicy takoyaki. Perfectly crunchy. We shared the Chebu Jen and hamburger with fries. The fish was so juicy and the rice was really well seasoned. The hamburger had a great bun and yummy roasted onions in it.Honestly bummed I didn’t take photos but we ate it before we could think too haha.Coming back with more people next time!
Extremely charmed by this intimate space. The meal was delicious as well. I’m still thinking about my pork chop over a week later!
We came here for brunch. The place has lovely decor and atmosphere and the service is great, quick and attentive! The croque madame was good, the waffle was a little bland, overall the food was fine but not something I would come back for. I would come back to try their dinner menu.
Nice, quiet place to grab dinner. The ambiance is very calm. It’s a great place for an intimate dinner. As far as the food goes, we ordered the burger and chebu jen. The burger and fried were great. I loved the chubu jen– perfectly cooked, flaky fish over jollof rice and deliciously braised cabbage. Will definitely be back to try their other items
A real hidden gem in Park Slope. Really delicious.. must try stuff. I ate half the plate before taking this pic. It was take out ?

Found this gem of a restaurant. The atmosphere is perfect for an intimate dinner and the food, the food! I had the organic chicken and it was delicious. All of the ingredients are fresh and everything is made from scratch. You won’t be disappointed and I’ll most definitely make sure to stop by again. Oh, make sure to get the dessert, you won’t regret it… I promise!
Delicious home cooking, especially the accra de morue and the crème brûlée were to die for. Lovely quaint interior, with low music. Perfect for an intimate evening discussing about the world and the meaning of life.
Had the pleasure of dining here last night with friends. And now I feel the need to inform EVERYONE that this restaurant is not to be missed. EVERY SINGLE DISH was perfectly seasoned and DELICIOUS.Highly HIGHLY recommend this amazing restaurant!
Super delicious! I had savior crepes for lunch. Surprisingly full from it too even though it looked like a small portion. I think it was perfect. I had the salmon crepe.
Delicious food in a welcoming setting! We will absolutely go back.
