Mally’s cured me, renewed my hope in Mexican food in New York City. Until Mally’s, I’d only ever received pure, unadulterated horsesh*t from Mexican joints on the east coast, often served on a platter and smothered unceremoniously in sour cream to give the appearance of dog food. Mally’s gets it right and keeps the recipes simple. My chorizo tacos were delicious— onions grilled into the meat, easy on the crema, plenty of lime, radishes on the side. The atmosphere itself is lovely; you’ll feel like you’re in someone’s home kitchen. Good music, a beautiful shrine for Our Lady of Guadalupe, family photos. I only knocked one star off for a slightly odd smell.
