A warm welcoming place offering French Creole cuisine from Reunion island. A compact menu offering very reasonably priced apps and mains, and a lot of lentil and rice. Ordered the sampler though a few items we wanted were out. Tender coconut shrimp and beef Bourguignon entrees were excellent. We were well taken care of by the staff.

I went there in December.
The food was very tasty and cocktails were great too! I loved the Acras, the lam stew and the fries appetizers.
The waiter was also very friendly

Maloya delivered a delicious and thoughtfully executed menu that showcased French Créole cuisine. We started with the Assiette Créole sampler, enjoying perfectly crispy samoussas, creamy boulettes, and a tiny pot of tangy sarcives. For the mains we shared the rougail saucisses, homemade sausage medallions in a rich gravy, and the espadon massalé, which was one of the best pieces of swordfish I’d ever had. With the mains come fluffy rice, a pot of lentils, and another stew of beans.
Overall the food was super high quality and we sampled a couple drinks that paired very well too. I’d add that it seemed the restaurant seemed short staffed, and it was cold, we had to keep our layers on. It seems like someone should give the plant decor some attention too.

My family and I had the most AMAZING dinner at Maloya! The food was excellent, our hosts (the owners) were fun to chat with and made the experience so special. Each dish was delicious and the flavors were unique and inspiring (and most is gluten free). Maloya is a true hidden gem in this city – I highly recommend for anyone looking for a new favorite in Brooklyn. It is so unique and fantastic, we will be back as soon as possible !!

Everything was solid and reasonably priced! Definitely among the more unique restaurants in the neighborhood. The flavors and vibes were cozy, hearty, and comforting. Particularly well suited for a NYC winter.
Standouts were the salted cod balls and unexpectedly the lima beans!
I took a star off because even with the rather limited menu, three of the dishes we wanted (an app, main, and dessert) were not available for whatever reasons. Given that there were only two other customers at the time and we went only an hour after opening, to me, this speaks to some mismanagement. I don’t know if this is usual or not but would be willing to give this place another try.

The shrimp and lamb were delicious and tasted very warm and homemade. Don’t skip on dessert, the corn cake was very good with some of the freshest ice cream I’ve had. The service was also really good, I recommend this place for a casual dinner!

My boyfriend and I are visiting from Portland, OR, and the friends we're staying with pointed us in the direction of Maloya. Our meal was absolutely superb. From the moment we sat down until the moment we walked out the door, we enjoyed our experience. The food was excellent and the service was personal. We got the appetizer platter (don't skip the salt cod fritters) and the braised lamb, which was spiced and cooked to perfection. We wrapped up our meal with a pineapple corn cake situation topped with homemade ice cream. I would have uploaded photos, but we demolished our food before I got the chance. Maloya is certainly in the top 3 meals of our trip.

Giving this place 5 stars for the FOOD - everything we got was tasty but also quite unique and memorable French creole cuisine. We loved the samosa app dish, and the pork belly / coconut shrimp entree. The food legit took over an hr to be served which given there weren’t that many other tables busy was really a excess long time

I held my daughter’s baby shower here. Samuel exceeded my expectations! The food was served family style at every table and it kept coming till everyone was totally full. The staff walked around with Mimosas and soft drinks so effectively no one had to ask for a drink. I highly recommend Maloya for dinner
Or a special occasion you may want to celebrate. You will be pleased!
