For a special evening with my partner, I booked a reservation at Margot, a restaurant known for its intimate charm. The atmosphere did not disappoint—the cozy, romantic setting was perfect, and the attentive service added to the overall experience. However, as our beautifully crafted courses arrived, we couldn’t help but feel underwhelmed by the presentation. While the flavors delivered a delightful blend of sophistication and comfort, the visual impact just wasn’t there. Given Margot’s esteemed reputation, we had hoped for dishes that matched the ambiance in terms of artistry.
That said, the food itself was well-executed, and the balance of flavors left a lasting impression. Margot excelled in creating a warm, inviting space, and while the presentation missed the mark, the overall dining experience still had its moments of culinary pleasure. Would we return? Possibly, but next time we’ll know to adjust our expectations when it comes to the visuals.

You have to try the little gem salad and banana pound cake, you’ll thank me later ? best cake I’ve had in at least 5 months, best salad I might’ve ever had.

The atmosphere was amazing. The lighting was dim and intimate. The waiters and bartenders were super friendly and knowledgable about the drinks/menu. Their drinks are amazing and not too sweet. They even have signature ice cubes which really give a sense of authenticity. I’ll be back in a couple of weeks for dinner.

I haven’t had food here yet. But the bartenders and the team are absolutely delightful. Super friendly and accommodating. The ladies behind the bar make a mean cocktail, strongly recommend!!
Will update after I try the food and wine. Thank team Margot for being amazing

it was “family style” shared plates, but the only family you could feed with those portions was a family of ducks…baby one piece of focaccia for $12… huh???

Unfortunately this was a miss for us (2.75/5 stars). Each of the dishes we got were mediocre at best and none of it made a lasting impression on us, which was such a bummer.
The steak tartar was decent but didn't come with enough sauce and wasn't served with any bread or cracker to provide a nice texture contrast, so it's like eating a spoonful of flavorless raw beef without the sauce, so if you don't mind it then you'll probably enjoy the dish more. The smoked speck was also decent and quite flavorful, but would prefer the presentation to make it easier to grab each piece, for since it's on top of one another, each time we grabbed a piece, all the toppings would fall off. The radish and butter was very plain and didn't hit the spot for me, for the butter was too light in flavor to make a dent onto the rawness of the radish. The focaccia ricotta with hot honey was also quite bland in regard to the honey, and you would need to dunk it in a lot of ricotta to bring out its flavors. The Rigatoni alla Gricia was also light in flavor and without eating it with the accompanying meat resulted in no flavor at all unfortunately. Koji brined half chicken was overpriced for what it was worth, and didn't have much flavor as well, so it felt like eating a simple roasted chicken dish. The roast duck was a bit gamey but had a nice proportion of fat to balance it out. The red cabbage that accompanied it didn't enhance the dish much so you really just focus on the duck by itself.
Overall, the price is quite high and the quality just wasn't on par with its price point. The area we sat at was close to the kitchen and since so many staff goes in and out, sometimes staff flings their hand and water would get on us. They didn't seem aware of it but the staff were all very friendly, so we didn't wanna make a big deal out of it, but just fyi to those who may be sitting near the kitchen area! One other downside is they forgot our drink near the end of our meal perhaps because they were busy and overworked. I think Margot has good potential, for I know their menu changes regularly, so I hope this review can help guide them to change and grow into something even more amazing. Unfortunately this time it was a miss for us, but I do hope to see them continue to grow and improve, by adjusting the flavor profile of their dishes and attributing a more congruent price to its quality, especially for their entrees!
Thank you for reading and best of luck! (:

The little gem lettuce was my favorite of the meal, sweet and salty. The candied macadamia nuts added some crunchy to the crisp lettuce, very well delivered. We also ordered prosciutto gouda melt sandwich. The drizzled hot honey gave a nice kick to the pallet, but the gouda wasn’t completely melted. The focaccia was absolutely phenomenal, crispy outside and super moisture and spongy inside! The espresso martini was too sweet for me and I might also pass the banana olive oil pound cake.

I’ve visited Margot twice this summer — the first time with a few friends during one of the chef collaboration/crossover weeks, and then a second time with my mom, who was in town visiting and wanted to treat me to dinner for my birthday. The first experience was perfectly good—an incredible pasta dish, the tangy summer vegetables with frontage forte, whipped ricotta. All delicious. The second experience left me feeling like I won’t be going back. My mom and I had an early reservation, and we arrived when the restaurant was not even half full. The hostess saw us arrive, but was joking around with staff at the bar and left us waiting at the door for quite a while; when she finally came over to acknowledge us, she seemed aggravated and was borderline rude. It felt like our arrival was an inconvenience. No “welcome” or even “hello.” I immediately regretted coming, especially as I wanted my mom to have a good experience while visiting, and the whole experience felt like we were a cog they were trying to process through a machine. The wait staff was more professional than the hostess, but there was no warmth or welcome to the service; it felt like they were trying to get our order and get us out of there as quickly as possible. I’ve lived in NY for 15 years and understand and appreciate the need for efficiency given how many people have to be accommodated, but the restaurant was half empty at this time of day and the entire experience was bizarrely cold and unwelcoming (and we weren’t even there an hour total). Towards the end of the meal, an older woman who had not been our primary waiter came over to share the dessert menu, and she was very nice. But honestly, by that point, the damage was done. The whole vibe of that experience was so off, and the food—while good—is not spectacular enough to justify being uncomfortable during the meal and feeling like they just want you out as quickly as possible.

Thrilled to have walked in early on a rainy day to snag a table. Beautiful atmosphere and phenomenal food. Docking a few stars because service was really slow unfortunately (but wonderful when they did check in) and for the snapper, which we were excited about but was four tiny slivers of fish. The chicken was an A+ which I know is a crazy thing to say about chicken but the brine was SO good. Will definitely be coming back to try more things off the menu

We’ve been wanting to try Margot but tonight was a perfect surprise - couldn’t get into a restaurant nearby, got lucky with Margot. Food was delicious and the wine was so refreshing and lovely. Service was great, too. The focaccia was amazing and the spring vegetables were over the top. Must try. Glad that our neighborhood has one more lovely new spot. Can’t wait to come back again.

We were here for the opening week in 2023 and it was just perfect !
The food was so good and fresh ! Shout-out to the bread that was as good as what we are used to in France ???
We also loved the open kitchen and the fact that it's not an entry/main/dessert kind of meal, but more of a tapas experience where you pick multiple small dishes that you can share
