This cafe was sooo much better when they first opened last year. My biggest problem is their inconsistency, one day the food is good and the next day it’s not. They also have other restaurants in the area and I’m not sure if they switch out their cooks. There have been plenty times when I’ve ordered an omelette and there’s missing ingredients, and instead of letting people know they give a mediocre breakfast. The coffee here is also terrible, it always has an underlying burnt taste.

This place was originally my 2nd option as my 1st ended up to be closed and I've been back to Martha's Pastries and Cafe 2-3x since. I enjoyed everything about my experience! I've ordered a sesame bagel w/ cream cheese, simple yet delicious and a chicken quesadilla; the cheese was slightly different than what i've had before but still really good. I'd get these items again.Coffee was great, no complaints.Seems to be a family owned operation and I think they are doing a great job working together in such a difficult time for many businesses. Staff is very warm, thoughtful (they bring water to the table), and accommodating.

Acai bowl is on point however I will prefer more coconut flakes if I'm paying xtra for it. The breakfast sandwiches were good according to my kids. The service was quick and friendly. We didn't have to wait long for our order and everything was correct, so no complaints there. The atmosphere seems peaceful, cozy, and relaxing. Definitely want to come try a meal here for lunch and dinner.

Much like other reviews I tried so hard to like this place. But the quality and accuracy is so inconsistent. Some times I’m left waiting over a half hour for my order. Some of the staff is so nice and friendly but clearly can get overwhelmed very easily as it’s just one person up front. The kitchen seems all over the place like it’s a new cook everyday. The food comes out different every time or just flat out wrong. It seems the owners just think if you throw some things together everything will just work out but obviously that is never the case. Hopefully some more time is invested in training and operations. My advice. Skip this place and just go to a bodega. You’ll get food faster and it will probably be cheaper and better.

Sunday Breakfast! Took my BF here for breakfast on a Sunday prior to a Boozy Brunch with my girls. Martha's is super quaint with a variety or breakfast/brunch items to choose from. My BF had pancakes topped with strawberries along with eggs and sausages. We placed our order then sat down at a table where we were served once his food was ready. The food was good and came out in a timely fashion. We sat by the window where we people watched, drank coffee and ate. Great spot to grab a bite and drink coffee.

I desperately wanted to like this place and simply can’t. I work in the area and used to get my iced lattes here 5 days a week. I’ve had the worst burger in my entire life from this place. A true hockey puck. Sometimes the pastries are fresh, sometime they are far from fresh. You can have a great avocado toast on a Monday and then a horrible one on Thursday. You can have an amazing iced latte on Tuesday and then get a burnt tasteless one on Wednesday.I once asked the server behind the counter how many strips of bacon come with an order. She looked me straight in the eyes, shrugged and said “I don’t know.” I had to request that she check considering I never get the same amount regardless of whether I pay for extra or not.The inconsistency is insane. Hope it improves. Their prices are on the higher end, so you expect better service and consistency.

My friend and I stopped into Martha’s on Sunday morning for breakfast. We placed an order to stay with the cashier and sat at a table right by the counter. Within 10-15 minutes my friend’s order arrived and it was delicious. We were impressed with the freshness, abundance and flavor of the food. However, as we sat talking and got lost in our conversation we realized I had never been served the breakfast burrito I had ordered and paid for at the same time as my friend’s food. Being that it was about 25 minutes after my friends food had been served we approached the counter to inquire about the missing meal. The staff member took the time to look over at our table to see if we were lying? About the missing meal and then checked their internal system and with the kitchen to discover my food order had never been received or made by the kitchen. Without even an apology the staff member said that there had been “confusion” between the front and back of house and asked if I still wanted the burrito. I was so surprised and upset from that response that at first I said no being that my friend was already 80% done with her meal and we had other plans for the day. But I was hungry, so I immediately changed my mind and asked that my food be made after my friend reassured me that they’d rather wait and have me eat. It took an additional 15minutes for my food to be made and then it was given to me in a plastic bag despite me asking for it to stay, my friend and I still being seated and having already paid tip up front for service. I commented that I wanted to stay and eat and was rudely handed the food in the takeout container. I felt rushed and unacknowledged and underwhelmed with my food which also seemed more sloppily presented and less lovingly made then my friend’s food which had been top notch. I decided to try to offer my feedback directly to the staff since the food was great, the atmosphere cute and it seemed like a newly opened restaurant. I prefer to not be passive aggressive and just leave bad reviews instead of real feedback, and this is where things really went left. I expressed my disappointment with my meal being served around 40 mins late and in a takeout container and was met with shrugged shoulders and empty stares. I then asked to speak to a manager and was told there was no manager on site and was given a phone number for “Milton” instead. The other staff member even said that he thought there should be a manager there since they didn’t “know how to handle things like this.”When I tried to call the number I found the number to be out of service. I turned back to ask the cashier about it and as it turns out the owner/manager was their father. She called him and proceeded to put me on speakerphone with much eye rolling. The “manager” remained silent the entire time and seeing that there would be no receptivity to my concerns I simply left with no intention to return. Sad because me and my friend were initially stoked to be there.

I stopped in for an iced coffee and something quick to go. I didn’t touch the pastries because they looked bland and dry, like they’d been bought from somewhere. The muffins looked too sweet and not fresh or moist. The iced coffee was watery and with milk, tasted like I was just drinking the milk. A grabbed a banana, all were mushy and gone by, I took one bite and threw it out. It’s a shame because it looks like a nice place to get work done with the windows and doors open. But I don’t think a pastry shop should call itself that if they’re not making their own fresh every day.

We love the food here, breakfast and lunch/dinner items are all great! The tacos Al pastor they had for Cinco were ? I hope those become a permanent menu option! Service can get overwhelmed (it's a small space and gets busy at peak times) but everyone is super sweet and friendly. I'd love to see them add staff and extend their hours but also appreciate that their prices are very reasonable and those are hard/expensive things so I'm grateful for what we have! ???
