This place is incredible. The trick is going to be to resist coming by everyday. We got the “Wake Me Up” congee (pictured). It was perfection. They have house made chili oil to use at the tables. The Hong Kong Coffee Tea was divine. I usually drink my coffee black but this was a treat. You taste the Earl Grey tea essence and the condensed milk tames the bitterness of the espresso without making it too sweet.

This place is great, if you're not looking to get authentic congee; this is a riff on congee & is quite good, but ask for NOT SPICEY, if your looking for the seminal comfort food.

This is one of my favorite spots in Brooklyn! I work at the middle school near by and walk to Maya cafe nearly every day for lunch. So affordable and my top pic is the sweet potato carrot and tofu bowl. It’s like going over to your friend’s for lunch and you know whatever they make is going to be delicious and satisfying. It’s the perfect hole in the wall for any time of day and when the weather is nice you can sit outside on a lovely sunshiney bench or terrace table.

The Pork Breakfast Congee was so so so good! The staff were incredibly sweet and laid back-- perfectly chill vibes for starting off the day. Ambience really feels like a neighborhood spot, with a carefully curated stock of East Asian and Southeast Asian dried goods lining the walls.

Notable items for me included chili crisp (many varieties including Lao Gan Ma), rice paper, dried makrut leaf, fish sauce (Three Crabs), oyster sauce, chinkiang vinegar, shaoxing wine, Thai coconut milk/cream, Maesri curry paste, chrysanthemum tea, etc. I'm sure I'll find something new on my next visit!

I can't wait to try their sandwiches and scallion pancake breakfast burritos. Especially as the weather cools down, I can tell I'm going to be spending a lot of time at Maya!

This place is one of my go-tos in the neighborhood. I’ve never had anything that wasn’t great. There’s also a small market inside that sells Asian goods and their homemade chili oil that is unmatched.

This is the best place ever, as a fellow Asian American, food is authentic and cooked with heart , customer service is impeccable and the owner is a kind, thoughtful and caring woman who puts love into everything she does. If you want something special, and nurturing from a nutritional standpoint I highly recommend this place!

Very cute Asian café! There is indoor seating, a bathroom, and Wi-Fi. There are lots of great options outside of congee and lots of snacks to buy as well.

The guy working there (Jacob) is very nice and gave good recommendations. Love that it’s Asian and black owned.
