The atmosphere was nice and the food was good, but the service left something to be desired. It took them a while to attend to our table, and I’ve never been reprimanded before for simply not liking my drink.

Absolutely amazing staff. I couldn't eat the breakfast burrito because of the eggs (I didn't know) and they offered to remake it for me 🥺 and the food was so good too!

I really do love Maya Fusion Cafe, and honestly, there’s a lot to appreciate here, but they also need some work
The menu is extensive. It kind of feels like when you go to a diner and you’re handed a book instead of a menu. I think they’d benefit from narrowing it down a bit so they can focus on perfecting a smaller set of standout dishes.
That said, the food we tried was solid. The pupusas revueltas were delicious, the pollo and carne tostadas hit the spot, and the tamales de elote were fluffy and satisfying. The baleadas were good too, though I wish they made them with refried beans instead of whole pinto beans to really bring it together. Portion size was HUGE for a $5 Baleada!
The banana milkshake is a must. Thick, creamy, and flavorful. And I appreciate that they accept cards (a plus in Bushwick), but they should definitely highlight the fact that you get a slight discount if you pay in cash.
Only a couple real gripes:
• Service is super slow, even when the place isn’t packed.
• Automatic gratuity is added to the bill, which I’m never a huge fan of—especially if it’s not mentioned clearly up front.
• It took a FOREVER to get our food, and communication could’ve been a bit smoother.
On the flip side, prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get—especially the lunch specials and weekly menu deals. The portion sizes are NO JOKE.
I’ll definitely be back and hope to see some small improvements. Maya has serious potential to be amazing if they tighten up the menu, speed up service, and fine-tune a few other details.

It’s very disappointing that the servers try to scam you and add over 20% in gratuity without notifying you. Ordered 3 margs and sopes and they tried to charge me $87 by adding gratuity without telling u so be careful because u might mindlessly add a tip! Please stop this BS, customers deserve transparency. Keep in mind I am a teacher in the community that they are ripping off, it’s very disappointing and I won’t be back. Do not come here. They also had an attitude when I corrected it, just horrible! This is clearly a repetitive issue that needs to be addressed. Servers will also try to guilt you, don’t put up with their BS.
This rating is based on takeout - the food’s great however my takeout orders consistently take 10-20 minutes longer than the 30-minute quote time, and my recent 6/1 order took 40 minutes longer (1 hour and 10 minutes total) - I respect and understand they were busy and maybe short-staffed, but they ought to consider a limitation on how many takeout orders they can take within a specific timeframe so they don’t upset their community (I noticed various takeout orders and dine-in guests visibly upset this evening while waiting as well). Not to mention, this is a slap in the face for the gratuity I continually leave on takeout orders as well. Please do better.
It’s a great little neighborhood spot.
Food was good, nothing spectacular.
If you’re looking to grab a quick lunch nice outdoor setting this is the spot

Fantastic pozole rojo, though made with beef rather than pork. Still, REALLY good flavor!

I honestly was a frequent client. Until I had a Terrible experience yesterday. I went here for dinner, and it was by far the worst dining experience I’ve had. The server was rushing me to finish eating because they were closing soon — it was 8:30-9pm….very unprofessional. The food was cold, and one of the sausages was completely burned. I’m honestly surprised this restaurant is still in business. To top it all off, they overcharged me. I wouldn’t have minded paying the listed price if the food had been properly prepared and the customer service had been decent. I won’t be coming back.
