Let’s be honest. Average = 2.5 stars. This is your typical Brooklyn coffee. Dark roast, bitter, and overpriced. Staff is generally dismissive and cheerless, though efficient.

Haven’t tried the food.

One of my favorite coffeehouse experiences is sitting inside at Milk Bar on a frigid winter day with the sun pouring through the southeast facing floor-to-ceiling windows, warming my face. The corner front patio is delightful in the summer.

I'm a drip coffee guy and the coffee here is really good, consistent and balanced.

I've come here occasionally over the years and love the full egg breakfast. The toasted bread is delicious and, though seemingly expensive, it's a filling meal and costs far less than a breakfast at a sit-down restaurant.

I've had many perfectly cooked eggs, and one undercooked, runny mess. It's actually amazing how much delicious food the tiny kitchen can crank out. Occasional mistakes are understandable.

Overall, the service ranges from polite to friendly, but on rare occasions indifferent, and once, flat out rude.

In reading the reviews, it appears the owner is making Herculean efforts to run a small business with exorbitant food and labor costs. Kudos to them for trying to run the best business possible and for responding thoughtfully to each review.

At this point me and my friend are regulars here. Every food item we tried is amazing. The coffee is amazing too. They have gluten free options which is great, and just the most cozy atmosphere both inside and out in the small patio. Will be coming back again and again to have anything from here really!

Best Eggs in Brooklyn – A Hidden Gem at Milk Bar!

I didn’t expect to find the best eggs in Brooklyn at Milk Bar, but here we are. Perfectly cooked, rich, velvety, and somehow both comforting and elevated—these eggs are seriously next level. Whether scrambled, folded into a sandwich, or topping a bowl, they’re consistently spot-on.

Pair them with one of Milk Bar’s inventive sides or baked goods (don’t skip the corn cookie!) and you’ve got a brunch that hits every note. The vibe is chill, the staff knows their stuff, and the quality? Unmatched. A must-try for anyone who thinks they’ve “had good eggs.” You haven’t—until you’ve had these.

Sadly I got food poisoning here today from the cheddar biscuit sandwich. I also find the servers are kind of uninviting and mean.

Overall great place for lunch.

I love their BLAT sandwich but they switched the bread from ciabatta to dry burger buns! :( other than that it was tasty as usual.
Also a bit suprised they don’t do more with their sunny outdoor space but it has tables and chairs.

Milk Bar is my regular coffee joint. For the last seven years I’ve been nearly a daily visitor for coffee and a bite. I’ve only witnessed the staff being friendly and professional towards customers, especially when situations get stressful.
It can get crowded on the weekends but they do their best to serve everyone quickly and the food is delicious—especially the sweet potato pancake and cheddar biscuit sandwich. I encourage everyone to give it a shot…..

Milk Bar used to be a nice cafe with table service. Now, it’s order at the counter, get your own water, etc. Silly me, I added a tip when I checked out thinking I might actyget service.

Disappointed in today. I don’t know why the person behind the counter was so rude to my sister. Both my sister and I are servers and have worked the counter too so we were so excited to come here after my big show at Shapeshifter to celebrate. We (as a group) asked to bump the order for the kids in front of the rest of the orders for our group (at this point only our table had ordered-no one else so this wouldn’t gave been disruptive) and instead of being chill and declining nicely they were so weird and mean for some reason? Just be kind and explain that you can’t do that here at this restaurant or something instead of being so irritated right out of the gate. We know that not all restaurants can be flexible like our restaurant is but being really impatient and hateful felt really out of place. I’ve had bad days before but when you’re front of house it’s so weird to be impatient with the customer just right away. I guess I’ll come back? The table was perfect for our group, but if I see that person behind the counter I won’t. We stood outside and talked to another group who had a similar weird interaction with the person behind the counter and commiserated. I genuinely hope they are okay and that their day got better. But yikes.

EDITED TO ADD: I see your response and I just want to reiterate that we were simply requesting it be fired or put in front of the rest of the group. My sister asked nicely and multiple people witnessed a disproportionate response from your workers. Both my sister and I are in the thick of it weekly and deal with really demanding tourists and jerks but we were trained and work in an environment where the culture would never allow for such an intense response. If you’re understaffed so much that people behave this way to a simple request then maybe you should look into how to adjust your work culture. My sister didn’t even need a yes, just a normal measured response. I would never talk to a customer this way- and I’m from the camp that the customer ISN’T always right. I just wouldn’t treat my customers like this. Honestly so shocking and weird.

My daughter has been a regular customer here for months, visiting every morning. While the drinks are good, they’re overpriced. Recently, she ordered her usual drink with light ice, but when it arrived, it was almost halfway full. When she politely asked the employee to fill it to the top, the request was refused, with the employee claiming that the amount of liquid is the same with less ice. This doesn’t add up—would a hot drink with no ice also be half full?

When she asked to speak with a manager, the employee said there wasn’t one available and gave what seemed to be a fake name. It’s disappointing that a simple question was met with rudeness.

As a social media influencer, my daughter shared this experience on TikTok and plans to update the review if the issue isn’t addressed. If this is truly the policy, it’s an embarrassing practice for a business with such high prices.
