Stopped by for the first time last week and had a very enjoyable meal. We started with a large Margarita Pizza pie that was cooked in the wood burning oven to perfection, nice crust and lovely sauce. We followed up with the linguine and seafood special that was outstanding with mussels, clams, calamare and shrimp. Cannoli's were a great dessert, we will be back again especially for the pizza's. Menu could use a few more dishes that are compatible with pizza.

First time customer. Just ordered chicken parm with spaghetti. Food came fast and was delicious. One complaint: NO bread or eating utensils. Not even the option to add bread to the order. This meal was not cheap. I took away a star.

A step back in time to old Brooklyn! One of the oldest establishments- great menu, great staff, great service. Garden, Dining Room options. A must see.

I occasionally walk by this location, but it wasn't until this past weekend that I made the decision to stop in and eat there. It was enjoyable even though some of the dishes were too salty for my tastes. An added advantage was the excellent service.

I got the Margherita pizza, and it was just waaaaaaaay too salty. I couldn't enjoy it. And it was a bit too overpriced for my taste

Grabbed dinner at Monte's on a Thursday night. A very solid Italian meal covering the classics all with excellent service. Quality: There is a reason why Monte's has been around since 1906, they simply serve high-quality food. I loved the Burrata E Prosciutto, particularly the soft creamy center of the cheese. I was also a big fan of the Reale Pizza, which added prosciutto and fried eggplant to the tomato and mozzarella slice. The pizza was a little soggy at the center, but the edges were perfection. I would not order the Ravioli again, I felt the mozzarella was too much in the pasta, but would be happy to explore other pasta options. Quantity: Large portions of each item we ordered. Value: Cash or Amex Only. $19 for Burrata E Prosciutto. $24 for the Ravioli. $18 for the Reale Pizza. Ambiance: Monte's has a unique location in Gowanus, likely from their long-history in the neighborhood. It is impossible to miss walking past, but it is not a road frequently travelled. They have some outdoor seating, but most of the seating is inside. They have a bar in the front that opens to large dining room. Glass windows display the kitchen at work, and traditional pop croons over the speakers. Crowd: Still a few folks lingering on a Thursday night. Service: Even though we were a late arrival, the staff was very welcoming and friendly. Parking: Small private parking lot.

The meal was ok, but the icing on the cake was when my credit card charge posted with $40 more than what I paid at the restaurant. Two weeks later, and they still haven’t refunded me. Never going again.

This is the first place we went for outdoor dining back when it was a new thing. Went back again last night and the food remains delicious. Great wine and plenty of room to do large parties with kids (we were 8). They have put up this tent in the back "garden" that truly is beautiful and really romantic. I've now had several of their pastas and all are great. Same with the margarita pizza (the large is insanely large). Love the grilled octopus and the focaccia is to die for. Plus they actually have a small parking lot if you drive.
