Extremely disappointed with this location. The fish was not fresh—soggy, overcooked, and with a noticeable smell. The broth was overly salty and seemed loaded with MSG, and portions were tiny.
Four of us ordered lunch here, and the results were alarming: one person stopped eating because the fish was clearly unfresh, another had diarrhea later that night, one vomited just minutes after eating, and the last had to throw out their meal entirely.
This place used to be good, but it has seriously declined. With other options nearby like Fish With You or 美味魚, this location is no longer a safe or worthwhile choice. Even with their expansions to Times Square and LIC, this OG location left me highly disappointed.

Everyone, avoid Nai Ge on 8th Avenue and 59th Street. A couple of days ago, I ordered takeout from there and found a lot of hair in the food. I sent photos to the manager, and he claimed it wasn’t hair, but mushrooms from the first photo. Then he told me to bring the food back so he could take a look.
I did bring it back—not because I wanted a refund or a replacement, but to let them know they have hygiene issues in the kitchen and to maybe get an apology. But they kept denying responsibility, saying all the chefs wear hats and this kind of issue rarely happens. When I asked him to explain what it was if not hair, he said he didn’t know either. Isn’t that ridiculous?
One of the chefs told him to refund me, and he said if it really was their fault, he had no problem with a refund. But he acted like I was just trying to scam a free meal. Since I couldn’t get a straight answer, I just took the bag of food I brought and told them I would report them to 311.
On the way home, the manager called me and gave a bunch of useless explanations, saying that was their way of handling things. I wasn’t satisfied and feel the need to expose them. I’ll be posting this on Xiaohongshu too. I’m really upset—please help share this.

The signature pickled fish is delicious, and the Rizhao Tomato Fish, which kids love, is sour and sweet, too!

It's okay, the portion size is okay, if you have a good taste, it will be more abundant if you add a little extra portion. . The original pickled fish is highly recommended and I will visit again when I have the opportunity.
